Normally I wouldn't say something that lightheaded but.. I think this is what psyops look like. I'm not claiming it is one. But it sure sounds like one.

Re:What If Video Games Came on VHS? One Modder Is Finding Out on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:59AM (#50161912)
> What makes this interesting to me isn't the prospect of abandoning modern consoles in favour of a VCR. It's the attempt to revisit a peculiar dead end in gaming history and imagine what might have happened if somebody had taken the concept a little further.

I agree, as the hardware of consoles etc. back then would have been perfectly capable of doing something like this (I think; haven't watched the video yet but I am pretty sure I understood the concept). It's almost a bit like a physical representation of an "alternate technical history" story.

Oof same. I basically built something GP described: a daemon that kicks off a one-shot session, working on git-bug tasks
Re:Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them on Monday October 12, 2026 @03:38AM (#50052718)
Thinking about passkeys from this angle, how big is the danger of using them for fingerprinting?
How would a "cool" GUI Toolkit look like for you?

Re:Can gzip be a language model? on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @10:33AM (#49801999)
Fun topic but generated article text and then not even actually using gzip? Rubs me in a weird way.

Which could be an important signal for you to decide if that's the kind of event you want to go to. Maybe the comic sans fayre is preferrable to some.

I always thought using something like this for debugger shortcuts could be fun
Thanks for putting words to the concept, "mental 3d rotation skills" describes exactly what I feel I lack to a degree where it noticable impacts other fields, I assume.

While that is true the knowledge cutoff will rot as the rest of the world continues.

Re:Douglas Hofstadter: Analogy as the Core of Cognition [video] on Thursday September 10, 2026 @06:24PM (#49650948)
I kind of hate to say it but stuff like that makes me think religions had partly found some important concepts with unconditional belief in forgiveness and such. Otherwise there are perspectives where human existence just don't have much meaning.
what was the disney+ incident? /gen
They understand that they don't need to care as long as there are enough others getting eaten before them.

Some of the smaller llm models run on it too but in practice the memory is way too limited for that use case.

Re:Audacity 4.0 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @08:46AM (#49549271)
Hopefully there will be a selfhostable implementation of their cloud counterpart someday? Maybe only a weekend of vibecoding away.

Re:Audacity 4.0 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @08:44AM (#49549250)
