Easier to just use a userscript plugin and have it override those settings on every page

Sorry can't cover $250/mo for 150k years. Can we stretch this out a bit and do $75/mo for 500k years?
Re:Refurb Weekend: The Sega Dreamcast on Monday November 28, 2022 @06:07AM (#33772158)
Not sure if that was the Dreamcast being overpowered, the sheer genius of Randy Linden, or a bit of both.
Re:Plex: Important notice of a potential data breach on Wednesday August 24, 2022 @07:46AM (#32578079)
Their password reset system is pretty bogged down right now, they DDOS'd themselves a bit sending the breach notice to their user base.
Re:Cat S22 Flip Phone on Tuesday May 24, 2022 @03:49PM (#31496758)
Tech like Android Auto could solve for this in a natural feeling way. Did these CAT phones lack mobile data?
Re:Reddit Is Down on Saturday October 23, 2021 @09:56AM (#28968529)
Appropriate that a story about RSS is at the top of HN right now then
Some Blender tools with a lower barrier to entry to do small tasks would be amazing, but hard to integrate into a workflow when the only fully supported file format is the Gloss3D format.
Re:Fastly Outage on Tuesday June 08, 2021 @06:40AM (#27433105)
The outage has already been added to the Fastly Wikipedia page
Re:Google Images Restored on Saturday January 16, 2021 @04:48PM (#25805813)
It also allows for searching by size which of course Google removed with updates but helps greatly when searching for icons, wallpapers, etc.

The HN hug is strong this morning

I find it fitting that #1 on your Wall of Shame is Uber. I've lost count of how many times I've tried to unsubscribe from their marketing. Even marking it as spam in Gmail dosen't seem to help.
Re:Windows XP source code has leaked on Friday September 25, 2020 @06:53AM (#24588535)
As opposed to where? It is one of the few platforms that would allow a post like this other than security info forums, but if you aren't looking for credits on one of those 4chan is about all that is left.
Re:Show HN: StowShare – The Airbnb of Storage on Wednesday September 09, 2020 @07:52AM (#24419995)
Same here. For instance I have a server with 4TB of storage and use less than 1TB of that, it would be cool to be able to "lease" out a block of space to a company that would pay a few dollars a month. There would need to be speed minimums and such, but interesting idea.
Re:Shippos USPS Time in Transit Data on Thursday August 27, 2020 @05:49AM (#24291837)
The data does show getting a parcel from California to most points in the east will have up to a 40% chance of delay. It seems their internal routes are getting backed up and causing a ripple effect.
Re:Show HN: A fast RSS reader I built with a friend on Tuesday August 11, 2020 @03:32PM (#24124886)
A demo account would be very much appreciated. I love RSS and use FreshRSS heavily, but registering for this is above my effort threshold for something like this.
It's hard to look at her work as anything but criminal when she used 20 fake identities to pull this off. Once she ran out what she could do under her own name and started using fake ones, she crossed a line.
Re:Joe Rogan Is the New Mainstream Media on Monday May 25, 2020 @10:38AM (#23301552)
On NYT and many other sites you can bypass the paywall by editing the URL and adding a '.' between the .com and the rest of the URL (nytimes.com./2020/...)
Why not? I think it adds context.
My dad passed away in August due to Hep C complications. Very true that anyone who has done anything that can put you at risk should be tested. The treatment is criminally expensive but it is curable with it. Sadly my dad, the a-typical medically procrastinating male, didn't start on Sovaldi until it was too late and he died before he could complete treatment.
Re:Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses? on Wednesday October 23, 2019 @02:30PM (#21337405)
Would you be willing to talk about what affect the exposure on HN had on your business?
Re:Google clamps down on free storage on Tuesday October 22, 2019 @11:55AM (#21325146)
It's a charge per month at $2-$3. The lowest annual plan costs $19.95 USD.

My heartburn is Gmail was rolled out as near infinite storage. They told you archive, not delete. And for a while they had a ticker at the bottom showing your storage increasing over time. The cost is modest, but I feel Google isn't being true to the spirit of Gmail when they limit and charge for email storage.

Factorio is still Early Access, 3.5 years and going strong.
Re:More MS-DOS Games Playable at the Internet Archive on Monday October 14, 2019 @07:08AM (#21246965)
Their donate page says they host 45 PB of data (45k GB). That is a mind boggling amount of data to have available online and can't be cheap. This is absolutely a cause worth donating to.

Re:Want 1.5TB of RAM in Your PC? It Will Cost You on Sunday September 08, 2019 @11:54AM (#20911264)
Watched the video genuinely interested thinking he was somehow going to put 1.5 TB RAM into Mac Mini.. until he said 32GB at 3:11.
Re:Game developer loses multiplayer service code on Sunday September 08, 2019 @11:41AM (#20911172)
A lot of people paid $24.95 for this game, and now they are going to abandon it, announce a sequel, and make it free for anyone who wants it. It's a triple slap in the face to existing customers. They should have re-wrote the needed code or contracted it out.
Re:Ask HN: Why does Google index pages I cannot access? on Saturday September 07, 2019 @07:36AM (#20903161)
Google seems intent on ruining their decent image search engine. The removal of features like search by exact size is making it worthless for certain tasks, without a good alternative.
