Re:The Humane AI Pin Launches Its Campaign to Replace Phones on Thursday November 09, 2023 @12:32PM (#38208043)
Launch Video:

https://vimeo.com/882968794

A lot of the interactions seem to take longer vs me just taking my phone out and quickly doing what I need to do. Its compelling given this is a v1 of the product so it will only get better from here but not completely sold on it just yet.

Re:Ask HN: How Spammers Earn Money? on Thursday July 01, 2021 @02:30AM (#27696804)
For the top groups, Spam is extremely profitable.

A lot of them were commissioned to spam knockoff viagra pills, or other pharmaceuticals and they take a % of all conversions. Hundreds of millions in total/yearly.

Other spam is outright scams as well or efforts by cybercrime groups to recruite money mules etc.

So I suppose it depends what type of spam you're referring to but as an whole in cybercrime its one of the oldest and most profitable.

Hey, this is more or less being done. The best bots/groups are bringing in comparable salary if not more than industry standard in their respective fields. If anyone is interested in developing Bots/Platform to secure limited items em masse, please shoot me an email at: [email protected]

I have direct connects with some of the biggest sneaker storefronts, and looking for developers.

Hey do you work in EE/Hardware? If so, would love to send you an email about a project I’m working on
Yes, I agree in terms of difficulty. Are you in this space by any chance?
Perhaps look into exploit development/reverse engineering if you want the most difficult 1% top tier job in this field.
Re:Ask HN: What the heck is happening with GameStop? on Thursday January 28, 2021 @12:28AM (#25938565)
Essentially there was a hedge fund who was heavily short in GameStop stock to the tunes of many millions. Once the subreddit community of WallStreetBets started applying buy pressure it made the shorts either add more/cover; or have to sell and when they do it adds buy pressure to the book. Led to a big gamma squeeze and this fund got caught off guard with poor risk management and the stock surged so much letting the small joe win for once in a game of smoke screen tactics by larger funds
Re:Ask HN: What are you favorite discord servers? on Wednesday January 27, 2021 @03:25AM (#25925658)
Mind sharing the ML server?
Re:Ask HN: What laptop should I buy in 2021? on Sunday January 24, 2021 @03:12PM (#25895422)
At this point I would wait for the new Apple M1s slated to come out in a few months. Apparently the current M1s have impressed many all around and probably worth the wait to at least see final specs and not have buyers remorse
Re:Ask HN: Why aren't micropayments a thing? on Saturday January 23, 2021 @02:40PM (#25885367)
Bitcoin cash? You sound clownish. Wake up and stop drinking the kool-aid buddy. Nobody goes near that scam fest, sorry.
Optimization via dev familiarity.
In terms of raw power it should be able to handle most tasks and more efficiently as well; however in terms of “development” it has a few drawbacks with the whole virtualization aspect. So depends on what kinda dev you doing I guess
Re:Introducing the next generation of Mac on Tuesday November 10, 2020 @02:37PM (#25050645)
Arm based Chromebook with a worse kernel, lack of 32gb is a no go. Trying to squeeze some sales right into the end of the year seems like.
Re:The blockchain/cryptocurrency space is mostly fraudulent on Monday November 09, 2020 @02:12PM (#25038501)
Yeah, HN ironically has a deep hate for any Crypto. Quite frankly a lot of HN probs missed out/dismissed BTC earlier years and now it just continues to trend up whilst the best money managers in the world/companies are adding it to their portfolio...the denial is real.

Re:Ask HN: How to best spend 5k to learn ML/DL using Python? on Wednesday November 04, 2020 @08:11PM (#24994748)
To add on to this, it would be cool if someone could point to resources that one has to pay for but are generally high in quality/or more relevant to todays practices. Regardless of cost and something that is outside of traditional university courses.

BradfieldCS is cool, I wonder what other stuff is out there in sub fields like ML/DL, Reverse Engineering, Web Dev etc

Re:ATM Hackers Have Picked Up Some Clever New Tricks on Sunday August 16, 2020 @02:33PM (#24180017)
For remote attacks what usually happens is the malicious actor will first get access to a banks network and from there pivot to the ATMs. Often times they have some remote tool to shoot off commands and so forth. The malware itself is rather basic and easy to understand-the security layer once remotely accessed is rather moot. Depending on the malware strain they can than program the ATM to be “cashed out” during certain time or even if certain cards will be inserted.
