I don't think it's phone cameras getting too good: nowadays every picture comes with so many "computational photography" enhancements applied that they no longer look and feel like photos.

Noise, blur, soft edges, muted colours, limited dynamic range, unbalanced whites, all of these things are unavoidable, real phenomena of optical systems that we daily experience with our eyes, and removing them makes the images look like dreams or AI hallucinations instead of like instants of reality.

That's the whole point and philosophy behind the GPL. That's why it's called "copyleft". It's about taking copyright law as it currently exists and using it subversively.
That's merely the marginalists at the WTO struggling to fit their beliefs that value is subjective and unkowable into the reality of commodity production.
Ah, the issues you mentioned are the top 3 nvidia issues :P

- wake from suspend - laptop power consumption - poor wayland support - sudden desktop restarts - hidpi, external monitors, virtualization

Nvidia's proprietary crap has always worked badly, the re-implement everything and put all their development effort into NIH syndrome instead of playing along with the already existing open source stack.
