IMHO, this is just another example of something that would be better off as a website/webapp than a native app. If anything, having an app that tracks ICE agents installed on your device seems more like a liability than an asset.

The problem with this approach is that it is easily bypassed. Simply point your camera at a high quality monitor playing an AI generated video, and there you go, and authenticated AI video. In the future, video evidence is going to be as convincing as it was for 99.9999...% of human history. We survived with out it in the past. We'll survive without it in the future.

Apparently it is possible, at least for some people, to "cure" aphantasia with a training technique is called "image streaming." I'm on the aphantasia side of the spectrum, and it has certainly help me see more vidid images in my mind's eye. Here is a link to the article where I learned about it, which also includes a video explaining the technique.

A bit more from the book (which is a great read, and available in it's entirety on archive.org):
"To enable its agents to communicate over greater distances, the government had installed “repeaters” at high elevations to relay the signals.
The agents’ radios transmitted on one frequency and received on another; the repeaters had an input frequency to receive the agents’
transmissions, and an output frequency that the agents listened on. When I wanted to know if an agent was nearby, I simply monitored the signal
strength on the repeater’s input frequency.
That setup enabled me to play a little game. Whenever I heard any hiss of communication..."

Re:Encryption made for police and military radios may be easily cracked
on Thursday August 07, 2025 @07:58PM (#44831872)
Kevin Mitnick figured out how to get around police radio encryption in the 90's. From 'Ghost in the Wires':
"Whenever I heard any hiss of communication, I’d hold down my Transmit button. That would send
out a radio signal on the same exact frequency, which would jam the signal.
Then the second agent wouldn’t be able to hear the first agent’s transmission. After two or three tries back and forth, the agents would get
frustrated with the radio. I could imagine one of them saying something like, “Something’s wrong with the radio. Let’s go in the clear.”
They’d throw a switch on their radios to take them out of encryption mode, and I’d be able to hear both sides of the conversation! Even today
I’m amused to remember how easy it was to work around that encryption without even cracking the code."

Not to get all conspiratorial, but if I was an incel, or other type of woman-hating-man, with an axe to grind, creating an app to "protect" women and their dirty secrets, then having their data "breached" would be a pretty diabolical revenge plan. Only women can join the app, but the only person running the app is a man? Nothing suspicious about that...

I'm tired of articles with titles like "X makes Y bigger/faster/stronger," then never giving an answer to the obvious question: "How much?"
This article is happy to tell you it costs $25M to develop , how many hours the annealed the metal, the patent numbers, the years the researchers got their degrees, but never once gives a single number related to the materials performance. Maybe its 0.1% better, maybe its 1000% better. I guess its not important.
