plus all the money and people involved created a paper trail, which meant proving something was "faked" much easier

that no longer exists with genAI models

Re:Seedance 2.5 on Sunday August 02, 2026 @05:41AM (#49142762)
until models will be trained to fake that too

Just wanted to say, really nice design. Night and day compared to the generic starting ones linked below.
Re:Networking and the Internet, from First Principles on Saturday July 11, 2026 @02:02PM (#48874180)
for the record, i only meant the visuals/CSS. i just do not understand the LLMs' recent insistence on this inaccessible design language and its ubiquity. vibe-coded frontends have always looked poor but at least they were readable until this recent trend took over.

there were no comments when i was posting mine, so i wanted to clarify i didn't mean to pile on the ai-written accusations. didn't seem like that was the case to me from the parts i've read. i'm just in the corner shouting at the claudes for being bad at frontend.

Re:Networking and the Internet, from First Principles on Saturday July 11, 2026 @08:48AM (#48871611)
i hope this was vibe coded, because I'd hate to think that tiny dark-gray text on a black background was a conscious choice

I have ADHD too and while I can totally sympathize, it just doesn't work for actual learning. Unless you're some sort of genius, I guess.

For what it's worth, I cannot recommend medication enough. It took me 4 attempts to finish university before finally getting diagnosed and acing everything first try. Sometimes I still find myself amazed at being able to pay attention to a meeting, a lecture, or a book for more than 30 minutes, remembering how impossible it was before.

>Most of my learning now is via audio books while I'm doing something else.

You're not actually learning anything then. Memorizing trivia, sure. But not actually learning.

how did they account for sampling bias? a judge might leave easier cases for after lunch. people with control over their schedules usually ease themselves back into it after breaks.
by continuing down the road they have been going on for ages now
Re:Claude Fable 5 on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @04:53PM (#48467597)
Why would you be? The fully corrupt, fear-mongering party that idolized Orban's Hungary and tried to copy his tactics, including taking over the courts (resulting in EU sanctions) and turning the state media into a propaganda machine, only recently lost the elections. And not a full term later, the polls favour them again, combined with a meteoric rise of even worse anti-EU fascists who they'll happily join forces with to take over in 2027.

I get you might not hear this stuff if you're not in EU or Poland itself, but seriously, just check the latest polling and history of PiS rule. It would take over a decade to event attempt to undo the damage that has been done to the rule of law in Poland, and the currently ruling "anti-PiS" coalition only had a short while (in which they failed to do anything) before getting neutered by the populace electing their own Trump-like buffoon that proceeds to veto everything the ruling coalition tries to pass. For added damage, the 3rd and 4th leading candidates (with combined 20% support) were the aforementioned fascists. Here's one [0]. Consider the wiki article a fraction of the cesspool he regularly produces.

if these things ever went away? we would absolutely have nostalgic recreations.

now, i am not so optimistic we will get there, however.

Unable to link a source right now but they have stopped doing that years ago. I remember the original article used to be posted as explanation for why CSGO wasn't getting any updates but it got debunked even then.

that statement is pretty high on hype relative to the actual financials though
in some countries you can vote for your government and hold it accountable.
They are not. The literal selling point of valve's games for kid gambling is that you don't need to pass KYCs for gambling with steam credits.
Re:Knitting bullshit on Wednesday May 06, 2026 @02:19PM (#48039673)
not when all the world capital is pushed into that bubble while eventually eroding the freedom to do all these things

can't move away from internet when you can't earn money without it, and all the services require you to participate

can't read books if no one is going to be publishing those, after they get out-competed by cheap endless slop

no point in walking when cities are built for cars and businesses, and public spaces continue to dwindle and be defunded

can't hang out when you're too tired trying to survive

I agree. For me, it's much funnier when read as Greg not being aware of the issue.

It's the same idea as Dennis in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia being oblivious that he's acting like a psychopath. Doesn't stop a lot of people from pushing a fan-theory that he is indeed a psycho and tries to hide it - which to me ruins the joke completely.

that does not seem like something you need an 'autonomous' agent for.

I would've went for Agentic Neural Infrastructure personally

what example are you talking about? assuming it's non-UK would like to read about it.
the point is VC money
It will pretend to have done "research" for you and will say something like "most recent studies (Madeup Author, 2026) suggest that the side effects of alternative brands are not well understood"

Let's hope so, because I am not so certain.

Re:Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update on Sunday July 13, 2025 @04:56AM (#44548691)
Ultimately the issue is allowing Google to skirt around anti-monopoly rules by throwing money at Mozilla. Can't really blame the latter for cashing in when the rules fail at enforcing a competitive environment.

Hate the game, not the player, basically.
