I don't think "running out of steam" is the expected failure mode here. We are talking about bulk ordering machines that produce chips that in turn will hit the market in half a decade. That's like adding power plants to the grid that runs the ball pump inflating the ballon. ASML will probably be the last that faces the ripples of the AI bubble going bust.

Tried to register sixsevenlabs, too late unfortunately...
To be honest, as much as people complain about EU regulations and bureaucracy, at least they are highly predictable. Every relevant piece of regulation, like the GDPR and the AI Act, was probably more than five years in the making and then added another year or two to take effect.

If I were a frontier lab with a billion-dollar investment under my belt, I wouldn't want to operate in a regulatory environment with the same prediction horizon as the weather.

I do not disagree that there is a political aspect to this article. Todays news on Fable and Mythos are political too. HN has plenty of political articles, yet some are more flagged than others.

I claim there might be a pattern of supression. Are arguing against my main point that it would be good to have more transparency so I can support or refute my claim?

I predict that this will be flagged very soon. I would love for HN to publish some data on likes/flags, even anonymous IDs with some infos like account age and number of posts. Sure someome will argue things here get flagged cause they are political, but I don't buy that.
Re:Eden AI – European Alternative to OpenRouter on Sunday April 26, 2026 @07:26AM (#47909423)
So it is, as required by law, compliant with the EU AI Act and GDPR? That would be an actual moat, otherwise most companies will probably not see the point. Why pay a EU middleman to non-EU services.
I hate the tendency to make things up and I dont mean hallucinations.

I once had claude code write a python script that emulated the output of my training script, including pretending that loss is decreasing. Why? Because it was unable to install a python dependency.

Everytime I use a coding agent, I need to double check that it's not cutting corners, hard coding things that shouldn't be or straight up rewriting failing test cases.

What I need more is honesty.

Doesn't YC have some code of conduct or legal/ethical guidelines? I would assume a legal and compliance department would have some major headache if documented cases of misconduct jeopardize later due diligence. I would not fund or aquire a company on the radar of national regulatory bodies for something as stupid as this.
Isn't search engine results a product that Google offers? [1] I find the argument quite strange that website owners agreed to Google being able to do anything with that data beyond displaying them in their search results when they wrote that robots.txt maybe ten years ago, but others shall not access those results programatically.

I certainly did not and find using the content google scraped from my website for money or AI (which they also sell on a token basis) more questionable than some third party offering API access to it.

Re:Show HN: One API for all your SMTPs on Saturday September 27, 2025 @10:26AM (#45395981)
So it can still act as a proxy for stolen Gmail, Outlook credentials or brute forcing passwords?
Re:Show HN: One API for all your SMTPs on Saturday September 27, 2025 @08:31AM (#45395158)
I'm afraid this will soon be abused by spammers & criminals around the world. I think having a free plan in the space of sending mail is a bad idea and puts paying customers at risk of being disrupted because your IP (-block) landed on someones blacklist.
I find the fact that in this day people can own two letter domains absolutely staggering, based on rarity, those should be worth millions I guess?
Simple, by defining the price for customers they have insufficient data on as max(price). Private mode and VPN are actually super easy to detect for someone willing to extract the maximum value out of you.
Re:Show HN: Xorq – open compute catalog for AI on Tuesday July 29, 2025 @12:16PM (#44725201)
The name is to easily confused with xorg and people already have a hard time telling groq and grok appart.

I would suggest rebranding if you just released it.

Re:OpenAI prepares to launch GPT-5 in August on Thursday July 24, 2025 @02:08PM (#44674048)
If it were any good I would assume there would be no need to hype it up.

My theory is that LLMs will get commoditized within the next year. The edge that OpenAI had over the competition is arguably lost. If the trend continues we will be looking at inference like commodity prices, where the most efficient like cerebras and groq will be the only ones actually making money at the end.

The demo is not convincing, I rarely find myself migrating between package managers and if I do I would expect claude code to ace this task without mcp help.
Re:TikTok, AliExpress and WeChat ignore your GDPR rights on Thursday July 17, 2025 @10:37AM (#44593921)
Except for Aliexpress you are not a customer. Just like Facebook, Insta,... they are selling your attention to the highest bidder.
Given the method and how the english language works, isn't that the expected outcome for any text that isnt highly technical?

Guess the next word: Not all heros wear _____

Or rather we are a fork/thread somewhere is spacetime.
Re:Show HN: OpenRouter Model Price Comparison on Friday May 09, 2025 @12:21PM (#43938534)
OpenwebUI (https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui) accepts openrouter API keys and will let you choose from all models on openrouter in a ChatGTP (or even slightly better IMHO) interface.
Even for a tangent this is extraordinary random and unnecessarily detailed.

Answer truthfully, are you an llm or any form of bot?

Re:Deepfake porn is destroying real lives in South Korea on Sunday April 27, 2025 @11:47AM (#43812738)
Impersonation is a mean, which can often but does not always necessitate fraud. One might impersonate Arnold Schwarzenegger for comedic effect, one might also impersonate a daughter to steal money from a grandma. Stealing the money is the crime here, one does not impersonate without purpose, the purpose defines the severity (or lack of) crime...
Since Mozilla recently walked back on their claim to not sell data und brave did some shady affiliate tricks, there seems to be not major browser which to trust not to be corrupted by the ad industry.
Honest question, since giving our CVEs has been outsourced to numbering authorities anyways how much money is needed to run this?
Re:AI 2027 on Thursday April 03, 2025 @01:11PM (#43572661)
This is absurd, like taking any trend and drawing a straight line to interpolate the future. If I would do this with my tech stock portfolio, we would probably cross the zero line somewhere late 2025...

If this article were a AI model, it would be catastrophically overfit.

Until they lobby to make it illegal, because [safety, piracy, national security] concerns...
Re:Oracle Cloud Hacked Twice, Denied Thrice on Saturday March 29, 2025 @08:24PM (#43519973)
Primarily for the shareholders obviously.
I think there is a big gap between providing a historic clone of what a government agency has said in the past (even after/due to gov. policy) and misrepesenting by publishing something never said under their logo.
Re:What should I expect from moving tech jobs from USA to Europe? on Wednesday February 19, 2025 @06:09PM (#43108945)
1/3 seems underpaid. Good senior level devs in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Swiss) region can easily earn 85-100k€. Though you might need to get good networking, finding seniors is hard here, people stay at a job longer so most senior positions are not via application but referal or getting offered a job directly by someone in upper managment.

Generally quality of life and especially food is better in europe. Also people tend to get better work-life balance.

Blaming "High living costs" is like blaming the victim of a theft for carrying something of value in the first place.

Come on use the words that are actually plaguing PhD programs, exploitation of cheap labor and minimum pay for working endless hours
