PCs are like 5% of computing devices. Very important for business offices but not outside of that niche. And mass amounts of servers can be adapted to whatever is cheapest. Google wouldn't insist on amd64 - they'd port to ARM if ARM was cheaper.
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:04PM (#50346633)
It's all a next token predictor, which is trained at first to predict the next token. RLVR etc. are also training the next token predictor.
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:03PM (#50346623)
Even with PRH you can apply orthogonal matrices to intermediate vectors to generate different weights with similar effects.

Even if a slight rotation passing through a nonlinearity isn't good enough, you can just reorder the vector components which makes literally no difference.

We only know that Astra didn't invoke tools on the client side. We don't know what it did internally, because we never know that, as OpenAI hides reasoning traces.
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:57PM (#50346567)
It's like this in every field. If you don't know something, you can ask an AI and get blown away by how much it knows. I can ask it which tools I need to cut a dovetail joint and it'll impress me.

We used to get that feeling from Google, and from books.

They are the same price they were in 2020.
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:19PM (#50343915)
It's the same thing is decompilation and hacking. It's not that a human couldn't find the same bug if they looked, but a human wouldn't even try because of the low probability of success.

Capitalism is not the world. Or doesn't have to be.

Dynamic weights during inference are also known as an attention block
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:16PM (#50343871)
Nah, this is just completely implausible. You're using a closed model so how are you sure that on the back end it's not loading those weights into an NN library and testing them with common tasks?

That's not true. Trump also wins.
Re:Nibnib: Image compression with extreme decompression speed on Monday November 02, 2026 @06:58AM (#50335677)
probably because what you wrote doesn't make any sense - it's word salad
Re:Nibnib: Image compression with extreme decompression speed on Monday November 02, 2026 @06:57AM (#50335672)
they were pretty clear it's for embedded image decoding directly to the video output port

Reminds me slightly of the old Hold And Modify idea. Big palette values are like loading new colours; small ones are like HAM.

Why would they want to sell at a lower price?
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:53PM (#50330307)
It's pretty well documented they deliberately made things impractically large distances apart and scrapped the idea of footpaths, to encourage car sales, paid for by car companies to your local city government several decades ago.
Re:Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:51PM (#50330279)
Seeing work as your purpose was supposed to be the holy grail of work that most people sadly couldn't achieve. Now we just immediately toss that away like a mouldy tomato and what's left? The new highest plane of human existence is working for capitalists to make them more profitable, in exchange for 10% of their profit?
Re:The $6.3B Binance Hack Was Pulled Off in Just 20 Minutes on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:48PM (#50330251)
The point of increasing your bitcoin holdings is to have more bitcoin you can sell to people for money.

Presumably the hypothetical price change is reversible or there would be no point. So lower price, buy, raise price, sell, repeat. A dump-n-pump.

Bolsonaro did flee to avoid prosecution for his crimes, so seizing his passport was evidently the right thing to try.
Re:The $6.3B Binance Hack Was Pulled Off in Just 20 Minutes on Sunday November 01, 2026 @01:45PM (#50328412)
They could also do it at any other time to increase their bitcoin holdings, then.
Just buy a different laptop - not an ultra-thin one. The WiFi card is usually on a separate module that plugs in by a standard connector and can be swapped to a cellular module.

If the Brazilian justice system had any integrity, it would not be illegal to attempt to catch the court shirking its duties. A note would be made of whether the court was or was not shirking its duties, and if it was, the court would be punished.

They still need to find buyers at that price. The price is what it is because there are no buyers below that price. If they artificially drop the price there won't be any buyers at the new price so they won't be able to buy any bitcoin so they won't be able to give it to the customers it was stolen from.

BNB being their own cryptocurrency that they mint and destroy at will.
That's not the end because you can solder wires to an attested device to make it do unattested things.
If you've got something to say, say it.
Obviously AI vibed, which means the project probably has never been built and wouldn't work if you built it.
