Re:Twitter has officially changed its logo to ‘X’ on Monday July 24, 2023 @12:07PM (#36850185)
There is no way you are serious, it’s just a website. You can’t compare it to one of the most famous works of art.
Re:Nat Types on Monday July 24, 2023 @11:55AM (#36849989)
NAT, the bane of my sysadmin existence.
Or you could use a cloud providers free tier, but then you have to give up your credit card info and name for “verification”
Re:Lit: Simple. Fast. Web Components on Thursday July 20, 2023 @09:05PM (#36808853)
I agree with the after the conversation point. And as long as one person chuckled the downvotes are worth it.
Re:Lit: Simple. Fast. Web Components on Thursday July 20, 2023 @08:19PM (#36808563)
The best part is I made that comment an hour after the post and was the second overall lol
I write shitty code only I understand for job security. This is probably why I’m a sysadmin lol.
Re:Azorius 0.1 on Thursday July 20, 2023 @05:52PM (#36807236)

If there is more interest I would be willing to host a public instance, but it doesn’t seem like this is getting the attention to make it worth setting it up.
Re:What Happened to Dolphin on Steam? on Thursday July 20, 2023 @01:23PM (#36803715)
As soon as I saw this was put on the steam store I knew it was a matter of time until it was removed. Im surprised that Retro Arch has been on the store this long, probably because it doesn’t have any emulator cores for modern systems
As a heavy Linux and foss user, I use iOS because I know it’s secure and has more specialized builds for my device.
Re:CIA: Spy Games for Kids on Wednesday July 19, 2023 @10:32PM (#36796266)
Everyone remember to raise your kids to blindly support the government!
That’s good to know, I guess that the shitty HP build quality only applies to consumer intended products. Just another example of why refurbished or used enterprise equipment is the way to go.Thanks!
Got to love used office equipment! I’m a big Optiplex fan and I use one as my daily personal pc for everything. I use ThinkCenters for most of my Homelab due to the fact that I’ve found them the cheapest, but I use Optiplexs when I need something stronger. But I’ve never used an Elite Desk in a homelab, how do they compare to Optiplexs and ThinkCenters?
I love this, my friend hates comic sans so I’m definitely using this for April fools
I’ve gotten used Lenovo ThinkCenters for $30 on eBay. Sure they’re used and have a 3rd generation i3, but it’s the best budget home server option out there! They can easily replace whatever done on a pi and even more.
Re:Netscape and Sun announce JavaScript (1995) on Wednesday July 19, 2023 @08:46AM (#36785437)
Eh, this will never replace my beloved perl
Re:Introducing the Nano ESP32 on Monday July 17, 2023 @11:30PM (#36767479)
I just used one of these to make an air quality monitor, would highly recommend!

Re:How I run my servers on Sunday July 16, 2023 @08:44AM (#36746350)
I just have everything running on proxmox with mostly FreeBSD vms.
Re:Discord Is Not Documentation on Sunday July 16, 2023 @08:38AM (#36746301)
Exactly! I don’t use discord for privacy reasons and I don’t want to just to learn something that should be included in the README file or in documentation!
exactly what I was going to respond with
Given their ownership and treatment of Red Hat I'm not shocked
This is why software licenses with restrictions are useful
It just exists, its not pretty or ugly. And that was the appeal and point of it.
Re:OpenBSD Innovations on Friday July 14, 2023 @11:23AM (#36725305)
As a sysadmin, they are 100% better in a server environment. Desktop usage takes more tweaking and time to get working but will work eventually. I used Open and Free BSD as my main os on my Dell Latitude until I found nixos
ah, I didnt see that part. Thanks for that
Linux and FOSS software enthusiasts are todays counter culture
Was he possibly using it as a dashboard of sorts? Edit: I didn’t read the article fully and was guessing, I have been corrected by the comments
