Hilary does not want war with Russia.

I mean, really. Sigh. This website.

"with the exclusion of Crimea, Russia has done nothing that any other large country hasn't done with regards to borders"

Haha that's an absurd exclusion. You don't get to pick and choose which criteria are valid when judging the behaviour of a government.

It makes me cringe so bad that many HackerNews commentators believe this nonsense. This is why I don't tell friends and family that I use HackerNews.

Sample size of 3. Evidence collected through anecdotes. I'm convinced.

PHP is a widely-used mature tool for website development. It can be used in good or bad ways by good or bad people. Nothing more, nothing less. No need for the fanatical absolutism.

I don't think support for Putinism and Russian militarism could be called "leftwing" using any normal definition of that word.

"In the last eighteen months, the greatest build-up of military forces since World War Two -- led by the United States -- is taking place along Russia's western frontier. Not since Hitler invaded the Soviet Union have foreign troops presented such a demonstrable threat to Russia."

This sentence demonstates everything that is wrong with John Pilger. His default line is that the USA is to blame for EVERYTHING. Therefore he writes the above statement, but ignores Russia's recent military excursions and buildup, and more ludicrously he ignores China's military buildup.

The man has some interesting things to say, but his hatred for the west makes him a fringe commentator who is largely ignored.
