Re:CS Professor: To My Students on Monday April 27, 2026 @10:40PM (#47929934)
I totally agree and have been thinking about this lately. My son has been been doing an incredible amount of engineering work on a fun side project manually including 3D design and printing, soldering etc. But he used Ai to program an arduino. I want him to understand the code but I'm trying to find the balance between the school classes, and all the other things needed for this project. He doesn't have time dive into it all right now. This project is giving him exposure but maybe the coding doesn't need to be done manually just yet.

The craftsman didn't move to the assembly line.
I have kids, I would not be OK with anyone doing that to my kids. That is much different from being OK with the technology existing. Kids/people doing terrible things and kids/people allowing it to continue is the problem.

You can kill with a gun, a knife, a fork. Removing the tool does not change the situation of being around a person who wants to kill you.

We homeschool our kids and they have grown up to be respectful people.

Some of us do but many people do not. Source: Married for 22 years.
For me, fogging my glasses means I have a leak and the air is being forced out gaps around my nose. Maybe under extreme weather conditions a perfect fit would still fog, but that's not what the op is talking about.
Toilets are available, but why use one if you have mastered pissing in a bottle? Sounds convenient to me :)

Note: I would not want to be forced to do that by my employer.

In addition to replacing single use plastic bags with heavy weight reusable bags. We can't reuse bags any more due to covid19. So now we are single using heavy weight reusable plastic bags.

Re:Inviting employees back to the office – if you dare on Monday August 17, 2020 @03:53PM (#24191231)
I agree. Sit in your front yard and work from there if the weather is nice. You may find more people routinely walk by than you thought. Say hello. No need to drive to "your community". Especially now that more people are working from home.

My wife's family does the same thing, but with cash and checks and sometimes gift cards. Cracks me up.
Re:Halmak – AI designed keyboard layout on Saturday November 02, 2019 @01:49AM (#21426114)
I always thought splitting the keyboard and number pad so I could put the mouse in the middle would be a great optimization. Finally did it last year and ended up with tennis elbow. Turns out having my mouse pad a good distance away from the keyboard gives me a chance to stretch out my arm. That tiny bit of extra movement was crucial in not pushing my body over the limit of too much tiny movements resulting in elbow/arm pain. There are other contributors like using my phone too much in the evenings. But for sure, the keyboard change pushed me over the edge. I now view micro optimizations like this slightly differently. Maybe this keyboard layout would be great! But I sure would pay more attention and watch for negative side effects now.
Generally you talk to a realtor... Zillow is a good place to start though.
What do you guys think about having the ai communicate to a person and having them execute the moves?
That is an odd word. Seems "de-energized areas" would be better. De-energizaton is the action that was taken on the area.

I agree with the other commentor. This term indicates it was done on purpose. It describes the stare of the power line. I think it's better than blackout.

Or these new things interest them more and they don't like it. Like a frustrating addiction.

If it's paid for by taxes, then it's not free. The cost is just hidden.
Re:Computer Files Are Going Extinct on Sunday October 13, 2019 @11:53AM (#21241040)
Ha, that's how I got my boss to buy me one. I backed up the server and carried my music around with me. Now I just carry a portable hard drive...

I wonder if they would be like stale cheetos, that would make sense, ha. I agree with your statements.
I have had amazing and bland Strawberries from Safeway in the US. Not sure how to pick the good ones. Time of year?

It would be neat to aerate it without breaking the closed system. Maybe a magnetic connection through the glass. Motor on the outside and prop on the inside... Does add complexity though.
It depends on why you are being attacked. From what I've read, Bear spray may not stop an attack. Especially if you are being seen as a food source for an animal in need.

Edit: Another google search just found a 2012 article [0] that is pro Bear spray to protect against Bears. (I did not read it all...) I'm more worried about Mountain Lions in my area. I do not carry bear spray or a gun. But I have thought about it quite a bit because I love being out there... The problem with Mountain Lions is that they are stealth hunters. So you you may not know they are there until it's too late. "Horizontal jumping capability from standing position is suggested anywhere from 6 to 12 m (20 to 40 ft)." [1]

Good point, but you are lumping all gun owners into one mindset.

I could definitely see that happening, but it would not be all gun owners, just a percentage. And of the many gun owners I know, the percentage that would support any government and impose anything on others would be really low.

There is also a lot of bedrock.
Re:What Tolkien Officially Said About Elf Sex (2002) on Monday May 27, 2019 @01:40AM (#20019702)
The parent comments point is that it could have been regarded as fiction at the time, but that was lost over time. If that were the case, we would not know that it was ever considered to be fiction.
Re:YouTube and Netflix ‘Throttled’ by Carriers on Saturday September 15, 2018 @12:43PM (#17994929)
$30 of that is for an iPhone contract, so really only $405... $145 for office, $75 for home, the rest is for mobiles.
Re:YouTube and Netflix ‘Throttled’ by Carriers on Wednesday September 05, 2018 @11:41AM (#17918947)
Not all of us. The US is great, but not perfect. I love hearing about how other places are better. It gives hope and a goal for improvement here.

I pay $435/month for my office and home internet as well as 3 mobile phones.

It's a rolling number, based on your on birth date.
