Re:Cloudflare to introduce pay-per-crawl for AI bots on Tuesday July 01, 2025 @06:45AM (#44432530)
Overall I agree with the idea, but prob will be cheaper to bypass CF considering the amount of data that big techs are consuming (also Google with get it for free because Google Search?). If successful, I wonder how agents will transfer this cost to the user.
I wonder how long until those anti-cheats start fighting and false?-positiving each other due on how they operate.
Also many life-changing amounts in the same batch should prob trigger some alarms.
As shitty as it is, Chromeos doesnt seem to have a lot bloatware to me.

tbf, Google has pretty the monopoly on search engines, the rest is way behind (even after enshitification). LLMs seems to be a more competitive space.
Does Anyone know how easy is to join the "trusted tester program" and if they offer modules that you can easily plug-in to run the sdk?
I don't they will dare tbh. I would expect Big Techs to show how dwarf Nintendo is if do an attempt. Big distros do a lot of free work for them.

Ironically enough, maybe the reason why Nintendo is so litigious is because the OG Big Tech (IBM) hit Japan really hard with lawsuits in the early days of the industry.

Re:YouTube's new anti-adblock measures on Friday June 20, 2025 @09:10PM (#44333656)
I've never said they should, they are free to implement any anti-ad-block for all I care. I just pointed out their lack of honesty about the source of the problem, they should say they are actively blocking the extension rather than the extension is malfunctioning.
Re:YouTube's new anti-adblock measures on Friday June 20, 2025 @07:57PM (#44333259)
Out of curiosity I clicked the link and it is funny how they try to blame the extension when is them actually causing the problem.
Re:Asterinas: A new Linux-compatible kernel project on Friday June 20, 2025 @09:26AM (#44327548)
What should be the name for these kind of things? *nux?
Good job OP, what a missed opportunity to say: "just a hobby, won't be big and professional like Linux" (:

I am just happy with xmake for my small personal project (about 1-2K LOC). Really glad I migrated away from cmake.
welp, nice simple solution lol, thanks!
Re:ChatGPT is my static site generator on Wednesday June 18, 2025 @12:36PM (#44311334)
iirc they generated really bad and unmaintainable code (no css classes, absolute position, etc...), unlike (imo) modern LLMs.
Re:I've almost completely switched from "Python" to "uv run" on Wednesday June 18, 2025 @12:05PM (#44311054)
I wish there was a way to force all deps to create folders in the same directory by default. Tired of seeing how many libraries feel entitled to write on your Home (which I like to have in a small partition and those big GB-sized files are not expected).

I dont remember last time (if ever?) I saw a native date input in the wild.

Are you sure what are you saying? The VSCode extension link [0] also redirect to the enterprise version, with no other option being available.

Thanks for the explanation ^ ^, kinda understood it with my basic knowledge of physics.
I read somewhere that apparently a planet (I think either Saturn or Jupiter) can generate energy when gets smaller.

I thought most POS devices stop accepting "offline" payments.
Re:Show HN: Web dev is still fun if you want it to be on Saturday May 31, 2025 @01:34PM (#44145781)
React is pretty barebones, they keep adding stuff because how ugly the original one looks like and how outdated feels like compared to "modern" ones like Vue, Svelte, etc...
Re:C++ to Rust Phrasebook on Saturday May 31, 2025 @11:52AM (#44145058)
Same here, those "mini" delays are not worth.
Re:Show HN: Web dev is still fun if you want it to be on Saturday May 31, 2025 @11:50AM (#44145047)
Big part of why FE system are so complex now is because we moved a lot from BE to FE, especially state management. I dont think it is possible to get back to session cookies and keep the "infinite" horizontal scaling that modern BE have.
Re:Cerebras achieves 2,500T/s on Llama 4 Maverick (400B) on Saturday May 31, 2025 @07:57AM (#44143655)
I feel a lot companies do it to reduce liability. It may not be more secure, but it is not their problem.

C++ modules still not supported on VSCode, always pissed when I get notifications from this 5 y.o. thread [0].

Re:PostgreSQL IDE in VS Code on Friday May 23, 2025 @02:36PM (#44075280)
I wont likely find the video but I remember watching the PM for both VSCode and VS (at the time was the same one, not sure now) recommending people to move to Visual Studio "eventually". I clearly remember it because it didn't make any sense, even if the names were similar there were/are nothing alike UI-wise and supported-language-wise. I said few years ago but it was prob around 8 years ago, vsc was still pretty young.
I tried last year but was a bit scared on how many switchs/NICs/cables are vendor-specific.
I bought a 10/5/2.5/1 gbps MikroTik CRS304-4XG-IN switch relative cheap recently, quite happy with it.
