Re: There are plenty of companies around.
I believe Paul Graham can Google or use AI and already knows about the companies and links you posted. His post was a call to action to connect with people working on yet to be discovered innovations and inspire those and others quietly working to come forward and connect with him.
I pay $70mo in Portland for 1gbit
33 years in Software Development and the only job I have ever “applied” for was a seasonal job at Costco. All the other jobs, including IBM, 2 startups and currently Accenture were through my network.
No snark. Honest question. What is the best reason to remove sort by oldest in the first place?
^^ This is the core issue.
Our universe operates under deterministic laws, meaning that all events are the result of cause and effect. As such, all new phenomena and entities arise from the preexisting conditions and interactions within the universe. In other words, nothing can come from nothing, and everything that emerges is a product of what already exists.

TLDR - Where is Wirecutter's test data?
Great points. I just scanned the article. Did Wirecutter do any actual testing? They can refute and prove the claims are wrong on paper...but it really comes down to testing. Where is Wirecutter's test data?
This is a great find! Just what I have been looking for. Thank you.

And to add....you sell a TV once but you can monetize the data for years.
Just a reminder. You are the product Google sells. This is a premium service to make you a more premium product that Google will sell to advertisers. We should all be looking at different (non advertising) models for the services they are offering. Hyper-targeted advertising and all the risks associated with it is not good for society.

ELI5: Why would a team of developers and investors work on something with such a small chance of becoming a viable market?
Honest question. Not intending to be snarky. Reminds me of the many Chrome knock-offs that focused on a particular aspect of browsing. Any advancement/advantage would be quickly adopted by the mainstream market leaders.

People appreciate thoughtful talking. We are less comfortable with a speech performance.
Is this an example of software becoming a hindrance or more beneficial to the industry?
This is going to be used for very creative, disruptive and disturbing vandalism. I guarantee it.
Life is long?
Life is indeterminate and at best a blip.
If the thing he is doing is not providing fulfillment, it's probably not the right thing. I'd advise not to wait. Search for what brings growth and contentment. Go for it.
Having a rich life full of new experiences can be done without chasing the dollar.
