vibed a tauri app the other day ~60MB RAM usage. quite happy with that!
Apple can release as much fantastic hardware as they want - as long as the software keeps getting worse, what's the point?
finally some proper penalty OOMs
you really have to wonder how they managed to mess up this bad, and why they're doing nothing about it.
local search is both broken on my mac as well as iPhone. I search for an app, and its app store entry OR settings pop up, not the app.
how does this persist? do they not use their own products anymore? have they simply given up?
Glad to see progress, despite the ever-increasing sabotage by the EU bureaucrats
calling qwen 27B a bigger model.. I don't know man. My vram says otherwise.
holy guac - the one game I watched, fable just sat around and waited for the other agents to drain each others lives. it then picked them out one by one
The whole creatine craze reminds me of Vitamin D a couple of years ago. Which also sounded harmless, but can go very wrong if not careful
You're right to bring this up - and this is where it gets interesting
wait, the thing that streams my code into the cloud, and that I let run basically arbitrary commands on my machine... uploads my code into the cloud?! I didn't sign up for this!
hoorah, more garbage out of the apple software trash pipeline
if this beats GLM 5.3 flash, I am sold
Wasn't that part of their contract with Microsoft? Some clause stopped biting with the arrival of AGI
qwen is a magical model. it has the mandate of heaven. was so already at 3.6-27B
I made some webapps with it, and have it running my hermes agent (which also does a lot of coding, but not webapps).
Not sure what it's equivalent to, but it's super cheap and I am happy with the results
GLM 5.3-flash fits the bill
This might be the ideal form factor for local+ models. Even though I am a diehard qwen3.6-27B fan, it is not the same as this guy. GLM 5.3 you can actually run on-prem reasonably well, and it is a legit, proper, work horse. As in, this can do real work.
copyright etc has been dead the moment the personal computer arrived. we are still living through the chaos of the new world being born, but I think it has been over for a while already.
I would be very surprised if any kind of license like the GPL (or any license for published code) is left in 100 years or so.
DRM is another face of the same struggle, and this too shall pass. Ironically, DRM coming from the same source as the GPL (wanting to force rules onto something freely copyable), is viewed very harshly, since it supposedly interferes with your "freedom". But in the end they are the same.
Both GPL and DRM come from the idealistic fantasy that non-scarce digital goods have any (market) value at all. AI is just the latest nail in this coffin.
Thanks Peter! Now do the same for the 'gram!
yay, I called it! :) (in the other thread)
Calling it now: The big deal about this model is the sheer volume they were offering through openrouter and OpenCode. How? Chinese AI accelerators / nvidia-free stack
"The public town square" where you need an account to lurk
Having replaced my MacBook with a Mac Mini, I would reconsider. The MacBook is just such a _complete_ package. Great speakers, great keyboard, fantastic screen, the fingerprint sensor thingy.. Takes a lot of gear to match that
It is good that someone is having such a deep look. This is not exclusive to LLMs in the least. Every non-trivial program depends on hundreds of little details being correct.
That is also why I recommend including health checks in such programs. Some function that checks that all assumptions hold. That could be an endpoint, an automated test, a periodic diagnostic job, etc...
The copium has run out it seems
gemma4 can't hold a candle to 3.6
