Seems similar to https://nurb.dev/ which can run entirely local.

Sorry, autocorrect got me there: MTP is what I meant.

Beyond the models getting better; there are still huge gains available in the inference engine side with new tricks like Dflash, MRT, turboquant - for some usecases these can multiply the speeds. There are even some model specific optimized kernels like for DeepSeek 4 flash that seem wild.

Makes me feel we are nowhere near the optimum yet.

Re:Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish (2005) on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @02:48AM (#46972090)
There might be a selection bias - off all the people who take that roundabout route; few achieve Jobs’ level of success. We never hear about them.
With MDM solutions you can not only get software update management, but even full LOM for models that support this. There are free and open source MDM out there.
There are even already some local AFM to Open AI API bridge project on GitHub - that lets you point basically any Open AI compatible client at the local models. Super nice for basic summarisation and completions.

Sometimes you have to marvel at what early desktop computers achieved with their kb’s of memory and mhz of cpu - less power than even a dishwasher might have today.

NotebookLM now supports Dutch - So you could load up some content of interest and 'join the studio' to talk with the hosts - I imagine that might be useful and fun.

I have an old iMac G3 from circa 2001 with classic Mac OS 9 on it for this purpose; there are great library websites out there with all educational games from the 90’s - no internet requirement in sight and loads of fun!

On current iPhone Pro (16) you can even select the audio mix you want for recorded video after recording.

Someone had to post this video of a song about Fermat - even if it’s in Dutch - legend: https://youtu.be/X2AVi6RCgN8?si=ZnN9lMb-XuirZ20_

Re:I Started a Bike Bus, and You Can Too (2023) on Sunday June 30, 2024 @01:47PM (#40838663)
I can barely describe how foreign all of this is to a Dutch person. Pre-school and school drop-off is with a bike by default - Parents today use every type of cargo bike, but traditionally you’d see just a parent with two bike seats (on front, one rear) until the kids are 4 and able to bike themselves.

This youtube channel does a great job exploring what infrastructure exists to enable this lifestyle: https://youtube.com/@notjustbikes

Re:macOS Sequoia Preview on Monday June 10, 2024 @03:40PM (#40637811)
That might be a sign of excessive congestion on the channel used for Airplay. Esp with device to device direct link, latency should be minimal. If you can, try moving nearby AP’s off the AirPlay channels for your region. For the US: “If possible, avoid using Wi-Fi channels 149 and 153 in rooms where peer-to-peer AirPlay is frequently in use”
Very nifty; thanks for building this. Great excuse to put a record on my player. Mine was 0.2% slow apparently…

Re:A love letter to bicycle maintenance and repair on Saturday May 04, 2024 @02:58AM (#40255534)
You’re on to something here - as a Dutch person, luke any of my friends, I have a ‘ daily driver’ bike with a in-hub set of gears, enclosed chain, drum brakes - and the thing is near indestructible. It spends its days in the street in front of my house chained to a bike rack ans still barely ever needs anything fixed. The typical ‘road bikes’ with derailleurs and rim brakes are fun when performance counts -but if you’re just getting around, who cares?
Re:A love letter to bicycle maintenance and repair on Saturday May 04, 2024 @02:43AM (#40255467)
Thankful I learned to fix a flat tire at 5 and steadily built experience in bike repair since, from where my first moped and car repairs felt like basic extensions…

The blog comes very close to quoting ‘zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance’ -I wonder if the author read that…

There are alternative hypothesis for their finding; eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead%E2%80%93crime_hypothesis

Re:Britain's decade of Art Deco densification on Saturday March 16, 2024 @03:28PM (#39728737)
Interesting! Central rotterdam seems to be experiencing a high-rise appartment building boom, with multiple towers of hundreds of apartments each under development; close to central station. Some artist impressions: https://www.dehavenloods.nl/nieuws/algemeen/44855/nieuwe-bee...
Re:Matthias Wandel's YouTube channel got hacked [video] on Monday January 29, 2024 @03:46PM (#39182308)
Feels like this is relevant here: https://kellyshortridge.com/blog/posts/what-does-the-word-se... - this is not Matthias’ fault, this is our systems failing us all in creating a ‘secure’ environment.
