Translation: frontier models are so good that we can rewrite our own warehouse infra.
Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:23AM (#50338073)
Stable Debian is using Linux 6.12, if your laptop has modern hardware what do you do? Can't use wifi?

And don't get me started with Debian testing. I want a LTS distro not a testing one.

Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:16AM (#50337944)
They have more kernels, more support for modern hardware etc... good luck running Debian on a modern laptop.

Ubuntu kernels are not the one that Debian uses. The latest stable Debian is based on a 2 years old Kernel ( 6.12 ).

Slop DB written in Rust. They probably changed the landing page after the bad results, you can still see the old one: https://web.archive.org/web/20260518203012/https://particled...

Re:Ghostty 1.4.0 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @05:59PM (#50266436)
Is there a plan to have pre compiled binary on Linux? Having to download a zig compiler is a bit annoying...
Re:Native Prometheus Integration with Nginx on Monday October 26, 2026 @07:03PM (#50252405)
It's such a bad technical decision for most people. Everyone rewrites it's own gateway / reverse proxy with bugs, lacks of feature, security problems and non standard integration.

Nginx / envoy should be your default choice for most use cases.

Re:Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone on Friday October 23, 2026 @12:42PM (#50211793)
Is it an exploit around the library that handles PDF parsing/opening? Can someone explain how files / attachement are open on a mobile device ( android/iPhone).

I don't understand how in 2026 this is still a thing, we have many safe languages to parse/deserialize data. Why is it complicated?

Re:Crystal 1.22.0 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @10:54AM (#50196273)
It's not true though, languages have different level of maturity in different domains.

If you ask Claude create me a Crystal controller for Kubernetes, good luck with that.

Re:GitLab CVSS 10.0 Integer Overflow issue on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @04:38PM (#50187288)
What a great week security wise!
No one at Danfoss got alerts than sudently hundred of fridges entered defrost mode? Reminds me of those computer you see at stores running weird ms-dos software.
None of those are real problems in reality, I don't think Go has more gotchas than other languages.

"In total I did over $400,000 in API priced tokens with GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT 6 Astra."

wut?

It's not that it does not scale but it does not scale out of the box.
DynamoDB is very expensive.
`<button @click=$(|_e| count.increment())>"increment"</button>`

What the heck is this.

Re:Platform-Independent SIMD in Go on Friday September 25, 2026 @09:23AM (#49844297)
With AI I'm pretty sure SIMD will be easier to integrate when necessary.
Re:Gemini 3.8 text-to-speech says hello on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @01:52PM (#49819931)
What is the best open model / tool for text to speech running locally?
Google, Apple etc.. seems safe.
Re:Astra for Law on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:53PM (#49746424)
Same for SWE when pushing code they don't understand.
Re:Java 27 Released on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @10:07AM (#49712752)
Golang is faster and use way less memory than Java, never wonder why you never see Kubernetes controller / sidecar is Java?

As for Scala it's pretty much a dead language, no one work with it and it's impossible to find dev for it.

10 years ago I was moving Scala code back to regular Java.

Re:Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @08:25PM (#49558958)
Sorry but I don't buy it, any crash can be found and fix by one or more humans, if it was not it's either they're incompetent ( I doubt that ) or they did not beleive it was important enough to fix.

A crash is actually the easiest kind of problem to fix since you have a crash. It means stacktrace, core dump, kernel error etc..

Re:Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1 on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @11:29PM (#49531386)
You have a serious engineering problem if you're not able to find the source of a crash after years.
That UI though... is it powered by Java?
Re:PostgreSQL for Everything on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @11:12AM (#49362703)
The main issue with SQLite is the very poor type system, after testing it for an app I was shocked.
I'd like to know what you base your statement on that the Raft implementations in etcd or CockroachDB are incorrect. Your original paper does not mention those implementations, so where does that claim come from?
They never said that.
The "world" runs on Kubernetes which is using Raft: https://pkg.go.dev/go.etcd.io/etcd/raft/v3

Are you saying that this implementation is wrong?

"This Raft library is stable and feature complete. As of 2016, it is the most widely used Raft library in production, serving tens of thousands clusters each day. It powers distributed systems such as etcd, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Cloud Foundry Diego, CockroachDB, TiDB, Project Calico, Flannel, Hyperledger and more."

One of the most popular distributed DB is Cockroach which is written in go and also uses Raft: https://github.com/cockroachdb/cockroach/tree/master/pkg/raf...

Re:Gpiozero Flow on Thursday July 30, 2026 @08:20AM (#49109021)
The video game industry is built arround that, game engines use that model all the time as gameplay scripting.

https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/unreal-engine/bluepr...

Golang-ci exists for a while and everyone is using it.

Not sure what you're talking about.
