Yes. People want free stuff now, paid for by other people. Working is not cool anymore.

I don't see any downside to a 4 day work week. Workers should expect to get paid 4/5 of what they made before, but it could be well worth it.

Exactly. We're worried about plastic pollution in the wilderness unless it's floating in the air, got it.

Neither is the lack of luxury housing
Do they also suffer from insufficient Lamborghinis?
> S.F. needs more housing

Always funny to see this taken at face value. SF doesn’t “need” housing. People want to pay less for housing. Not the same thing at all.

I changed my mind too. Turns out it's really dangerous.
Re:Apple Reports First Quarter Results on Thursday February 02, 2023 @05:16PM (#34633989)
Apple refuses that in the same way that you refuse to eat moldy food. You like fresh food right?

It’s not short anything. Other states have housing.

You like crime?

Reality

Wow that’s actually terrible news. Who wants more pollution crowding traffic and crime?
Re:Japan Has Changed a Lot on Wednesday January 25, 2023 @11:55PM (#34527810)
Every housing topic on HN ends with the guy saying “… but Japan!”. Funny thing is that guy never lives in Japan.

People think more housing lowers housing costs. Those people have never been to a big city.
Good. More housing/highways is not the answer.
Re:Canada bans most foreigners from buying homes on Tuesday January 03, 2023 @08:07PM (#34240510)
I really don't understand why people are thirsty in the desert when they don't have water. Why are they so impotent?
Re:USD 4.27B stolen in 2022 in Web3/crypto hacks and scams on Tuesday January 03, 2023 @01:22PM (#34235473)
The most shocking part for me was that someone was willing to pay $280
Re:Canada bans most foreigners from buying homes on Monday January 02, 2023 @07:44PM (#34225962)
It’s only simple if you don’t care about crime, pollution, etc. Then, it’s very simple yes.
Airtable was a really cool startup when they came out in 2012. There was nothing else like it. Now, with their mass layoffs, and free alternatives, it makes you wonder if they can survive as a company.

Good exercise for democrats: acknowledge that the Hunter Biden laptop was not fake, that negative news about the government are being actively, illegally, and covertly suppressed by social media companies.

It changes everything.

Re:American EVs reduced gasoline consumption by just 0.54% in 2021 on Wednesday December 21, 2022 @05:10AM (#34078762)
easy to say
Anyone who has seen a lithium mining site in person will be a LOT less enthused about EV vehicles in general. And if you actually live near a lithium mining site... lets just say EV vehicles will be the worst thing that's ever happened to you.
Worked out great actually. Less pollution, less crowding and noise, less crime, more nature, cleaner.
> It has zero to do with "being too good to hire their own students" and everything to do with diversity of thought. I 100% agree with it.

If you think universities have diversity of thought you haven’t been to a university in the last few decades

Nothing wrong with that, I wish I did too
It feels like talking to recently elected politicians
this tweet makes no sense
