This isn't the timeline to be finding common sense in.
After a lifetime career in tech, I want to turn it all off.

They just work "underground"

A lot of ketamine is involved.

Parallel steps:

Step 1: SpaceX IPO

Step 2: Trillion dollar payout

Step 3: Nothing matters any more

Re:Tesla is committing automotive suicide on Thursday January 29, 2026 @02:01PM (#46814829)
The end game is the SpaceX IPO which will make him a trillionaire, and then he doesn't need Tesla any more.
whooosh

What is Edge? Is that something on the Microsoft?

We need to divorce "corporate" from "tech"

You used to have to pay for UNIX just like you pay for Microsoft Windows
One time in Hawaii I was looking at a "Sugar in the Raw" type sugar packet. The sugar was grown in Hawaii, shipped to California for packaging, and shipped back to Hawaii, and distributed in trucks to the restaurant.
Pro Tip: You're going to need a floor drain in your kitchen as a first step.
It's assumed that they are a bad actor, and the food is prepared under unsanitary conditions.
I will tell you what I did in that situation. I ate the cheap, processed, calorie dense foods, until such time as I could move to a major metropolitan area with better economic opportunities.

Moving to that area (Northern Virginia) was my focus. I did it through sheer willpower and determination.

I had to essentially abandon family and friends to do it however. But I gave myself a better life outcome.

Frozen bread is useless! I would put bread in the refrigerator though.
White bread can't be made healthy. It's white bread! Try wheat bread
A good proxy is looking at the number of ingredients. The fewer, the better.

Well, yes. You should be thinking about what you purchase and what goes into your body.

Once a product is vetted, you should be able to keep buying it with only periodic refresher checks at the ingredients.

This is a lot of fun. You did a good job!

You asked for an area exploration using a stack-based traversal—pushing current locations as I move and popping back from dead ends. Here’s a summary of the explored northern and eastern sections so far:

*North Route:* - Start: West of House → North of House (no entry, just boarded windows). - North of House → Forest Path (large tree, path continues). - Further North → Clearing (dead end, only a pile of leaves). - Backtracked south to Forest Path.

*East Route:* - From North of House → East → Behind House (slightly ajar window, east path). - Behind House → East → Small Clearing (path east/west). - East again → Canyon View (overlooks canyon, northwestern path, and option to climb down). - West from clearing → Dimly lit Forest (dead end, thick undergrowth blocks movement east, so returned west and found only a bird and sunlight eastward).

*Key findings:* - Most paths either loop or end in dead ends. - Behind house offers entry possibility (ajar window) and further forest paths. - Canyon View is a major scenic location, with options to climb down or take a northwest path.

Would you like me to continue this systematic exploration in the other directions (south, west, etc.) or focus specifically on a branch you find interesting?

It seems that if you go off the beaten path, you get into a place where you cannot get back.
The people who can afford to live here spend all their time working, and no time participating in the community, much less enjoying and appreciating the things that make the area special.
I'm waking up to all the damage that huge tech companies cause. They destroy communities by creating huge inequalities among people.

As long as we have Citizens United here in the USA, big money (no matter who it belongs to) will continue to threaten democracy.

So for the sake of my country, take your tech industry somewhere else.

Just don't buy those foods. Buy fresh vegetables, tofu, and meat from the edges of the grocery store. Simple. Done.
The point was - Do we really benefit from these companies in our backyard, or are they destroying local communities?

Is a trillion dollar company in your backyard really a good thing?

Indeed -- it's just bots talking to bots.
A simple house in the South Bay is $2 million or more. Is this a win for humanity?
There's a good chance they'd have been put to use strengthening the advertisement-dopamine-corporate control cycle that humanity is currently suffering under.

Unpopular opinion: We don't really NEED these bleeding edge chips. What does humanity need? Clean air, clean water, healthy food, health care, compassion, education.
I am also curious about this, how does the average person in China feel about subscriptions?
