The first result I looked at suggested stainless steel splitless siding nails. The Gemini overview said something similar.

So what's the actual answer?

To be fair, that's not what's being said. His insane take is actually you can be secure while being as fast as physically possible, and if you don't think that you're just not working hard enough.

Well 100 years seems disproportionately harsh compared to other sentences for the same crime.

And the other protesters had huge, unjust sentences applied to them for protesting.

> But instead a few of them had guns

One of them had a gun, which the US decided was ok for someone to carry in public.

Guilt by association is it?

They're not even trying to pretend to not be evil.

Re:Websites Should Be Printable on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @07:27PM (#50267341)
That's for desktop Firefox. Mobile doesn't have the menu option, and keyboard controls are obviously problematic.
That assumes your tv is Android as well, since Roku and Tizen won't have access to that.

Also the way Steam encodes the stream is reportedly lower quality than Sunshine. This has been a thing for years.

> Python is a dynamically typed language. That's exactly my point! The less "strict" the language, the more open to interpretation.

Your point, by your own words:

> However, the human language is not a programming language. It's open to interpretation

Is that a language is not a programming language if it is open to interpretation. It is a point that is demonstrably wrong.

Re:The compiler was supposed to end programming too on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:24AM (#50194995)
In this case it's an excellent comparison. Many in transportation just liked the transportation aspect, and the switch from horse to automobile didn't matter. Some people were just there for the horses, and to them it did matter.

Why would you link to a four month old HN thread with no comments, instead of the link in the HN thread? What does that add other than an extra click?
Re:Jailbreaking the Switch 2 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:13AM (#50194856)
The person running it obviously. How is that even a real question? Since when did an AI lab have the right to anything a paid user generated?
> I have never seen an automated attack on a PHP application that has bothered to hide its traces.

I'd agree with that sentiment, most of those scripts are the laziest they can be.

But I can't help but wonder if there's survivor bias going on there.

Your original premise said it was half a gig for a single variant, not all of them, you're moving goalposts. Also never in my life have I installed a "SemiBold" variant or any of those other barely different ones. Just install regular/light/heavy/bold and get on with your life.
Re:Someone on Torrent Sites Kept Fucking with My Sonarr on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:26PM (#50122343)
I remember torrenting Tom Clancy's Endwar for the Nintendo DS. I downloaded the torrent, thought "the size is weird", unzipped the RAR file using the password on the site, and finding an executable instead of a ROM. I rolled my eyes and went to look for a different copy.

I was 11 at the time.

It's also great at cleaning up build artifacts of software I'm trying to compile before I even have a chance to run it. Wow! It was also very cool when it interfered with git in a way it couldn't detect, so I spent 2 hours diagnosing a bogus FS error.

Very cool Microsoft.

Nothing is stopping you from doing it manually.

Or you could put in the work and end up with a system that will let a non-technical family member type the name of a show that comes out next week and it will automatically search, download, tag, and add every episode on release to a Jellyfin instance for them to watch.

As we've seen in the past, the app doesn't have to be illegal. It just requires evil corpos with unlimited funding to allege that it is. Then the open-source developer is put in the position of spending money they don't have on lawyers or closing up shop.
Re:The Folders Programming Language on Friday October 16, 2026 @11:10AM (#50119367)
Imagine being the guy trying to figure out why a Windows server is running out of space, and finding 23 million empty folders being used to define software for prod.
Re:I Love Software Rendering on Friday October 16, 2026 @09:48AM (#50118365)
My understanding was they removed that software renderer specifically because it didn't run well.
Clicking Sans-Serif, Code Editor, from the quick picker downloads PkgTTc-SGr-losevka-34.9.0.zip

That file contains 9 font variants ranging in size from 50 to 54 megabytes.

I don't see how any of those things are similar, I think you've missed my point. Those hypothetical authors are using robots and license files correctly.

Would you be OK if a repo had Visual Studio files that were designed to crash visual studio if they are used, just because the maintainer hates Microsoft? That's what this feels like, a deliberate malicious abuse of the intent that adding agents.md would otherwise imply.

As someone who admins several Linux boxes professionally and personally and has spent so little time working with systemd it's a rounding error, what are you talking about?

Re:Tiny Little Office on Thursday October 15, 2026 @02:55PM (#50108505)
Cool project. It reminds me of https://tiddlywiki.com/ for Powerpoints.

> I can't bring myself to read about let alone try using products whose landing page is such a cookie cutter AI design.

My issue isn't cookie-cutter, but if by gloss you mean unnecessarily animated, then yeah. But I've had this issue for over a decade. AI without direction is just mimicking popular site designs that were doing this same crap before.

> At least put some effort in to sand off the horrible unnecessary gloss and choose different fonts, colour schemes and layouts from every other project.

How do you feel about WordPress / Hugo themes?

I can't be the only one who thinks the way they handled that is incredibly disrespectful right?

It's their own business to disallow AI contributions. But instead of adding that to the Code Of Conduct they chose to knowingly misuse a file to target a group of people they don't like.

If I want to use AI on my copy of that repo, I have to delete that file and consider if the developer has added any more of what is (by intent) basically malware to the source code. Sure the file is just an unhinged rant, but now I have to wonder if they attempted to put some prompt injection in the repo.

Re:Amazon pushes up prices across the Internet on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @10:46AM (#50088524)
I don't buy most groceries from Amazon, but certain things are hard to source locally. Popcorn salt, cinnamon Oreos, etc.
Re:Where is all the new, good software? on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @09:56AM (#50087873)
I don't see where they claim that it's a replacement for everything.

> What it really shows is ego, arrogance and disdain for the users while running an AI cargo cult.

It seems you have unreasonable expectations of a new piece of software because you don't like people who use AI.

Maybe read again? The font variants are 50 MB, not 500. That seems like an average size for a font with such broad language support.
Re:Integer multiplication below n log n on Friday October 09, 2026 @11:36AM (#50022074)
Yeah I agree. Science is about being right 100% percent of the time. If you make a mistake you're not a real scientist.

... Sarcasm, if you couldn't tell.

Re:Coding Is Not Solved on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @09:11AM (#49908454)
Strange that GP never claimed software doesn't function without LLMs and yet you strawman-man them then make some bad-faith dismissal of their experience by accusing them of having psychosis.
