Re:Europe EV Sales BEVs Jump 50% & Reach 26% Market Share on Sunday August 02, 2026 @11:07PM (#49150782)
I'm trading in my 2018 Tesla Model 3 soon to buy a Rivian R2. It seems like the only real Tesla competitor actually coming to market.
There are peer-reviewed case reports for both DVT and neuropathy related to Pfizer's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, but they are consistently described as 'rare' or 'extremely rare' across sources/studies. As a doctor (if you actually are one), you should know better than to perpetuate anecdotal evidence.
Re:Slate EV truck starts at $24,950 on Wednesday June 24, 2026 @11:48AM (#48661697)
I think the answer is subsidy rather than tariffs (maybe a combination). One of the reasons China is beating the US in manufacturing is because they have a fully thought out economic plan and directly subsidize targeted sectors. In the US its a free-for-all with tariffs, which means we can't compete on world markets.

The Maverick is barley a truck. It's a unibody SUV with a small truck bed. Its built on the Escape/Bronco Sport platform.
Look at the graph for the M2 money supply: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/M2SL

Basically there's a lot of money out there floating around, especially after we pumped with COVID. It has to go somewhere, and mostly ends up in asset appreciation (stocks and real estate).

You're right though that the reality of shortages via a missing 20% supply of oil is a problem, and with all this cash floating around will eventually show itself as stagflation. That said, oil's pass-through to the broad indexes is historically weaker than it feels, so the pain will likely hit consumer purchasing power and corporate margins before it really shows up in the headline stock numbers.

I think your forgetting what programming actually is. Its a way convert instructions into 1 & 0s. The programming language your using is irrelevant. If AI can do the same thing with natural language is just a matter of time before we drop the "programming language" layer and AI just creates programs using straight up machine code.
Unfortunately this is exactly what people voted for. Did you not listen to Trump during the campaign? He promised chaos, revenge, racism, and incoherent nonsense. We're getting exactly that 10x.
Eh, depends on the interest rate. If someone wants to lend me $50k at 0-4% while I keep my cash in the market that's fine by me.
I mean, I have three services now. Spotify, Amazon Music (comes with prime), and YouTube Music (comes with YouTube Prime ad free streaming). If either Amazon or YouTube improved the experience, developed dedicated Music apps, and added Tesla integration I'd dump Spotify tomorrow.
Tanking the currency is literally step 2 in their plan.

They're owned by Wal-Mart....so yeah. You get what you pay for.
Re:Egg Prices Are Soaring. Are Backyard Chickens the Answer? on Thursday February 20, 2025 @03:58PM (#43120105)
The risk it outside wild birds. If you have feed on the ground and wild birds are also eating it (and pooping on it), your Chickens could be infected.
Re:Egg Prices Are Soaring. Are Backyard Chickens the Answer? on Thursday February 20, 2025 @03:52PM (#43120029)
No, you're not safe if your chickens are exposed to wild birds. If they're outside feeding on seed that other wild birds also have access to they're at risk.
Re:US egg prices increased 22% in 2025 and 202% in 12 months on Thursday February 06, 2025 @03:36PM (#42966239)
Isn't the problem here bird flu? I'd be very afraid of raising chickens right now and inviting this kind of thing directly into my home. The solution here is to suck it and go without eggs while this thing hopefully blows over.

Yesterday both candidates were too old. Today only one is.

The man is in his 80s. If he doesn't think he's up to the task of winning than so be it. Better a hail mary than doing nothing.

Most scrap yards are run by shady goons who don't care enough to enforce the rules.
The social security tax limit is indexed with inflation and updated annually by the IRS without an act of congress. This indexing is factored into their funding calculations.
In an actual post-apocalyptic situation there wouldn't be any usable gasoline left within a year. EV's would actually last longer with a proper solar array.
Its hot during the day, so people come out at night and can see if there's a full moon. Considering that it's still night, people may be drinking and can be generally up to no good.
Re:Wendy's Wants to Start Uber-Like Surge Pricing in 2025 on Monday February 26, 2024 @10:43PM (#39519922)
Isn't that what they're trying to do though? Perfectly price their product for demand at any given time? Not saying I like the idea, but it seems like pure supply and demand in action.
Re:What Happened to EVs? on Wednesday January 03, 2024 @11:26PM (#38862990)
Depending on the weather my 2018 Model 3 will get 285-300 miles per charge. It was around 300-3015 when I got it. I've had zero issues. Range has never been a problem with the superchargers.
Re:Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2023 on Saturday December 09, 2023 @11:58PM (#38589230)
I've thought about these but don't want to mistakenly type something crazy meant for my friend groupchat into my work computer.
Not really. I'd argue raising a successful child "takes a village" with parents/teachers/community being legs of a stool. If any one of these legs is weak outcomes will be poor and they really aren't interchangeable.

Parents aren't teachers and teachers aren't parents. I'd argue that one of main problems with education right now is the dereliction of duty on the parents part, expecting the schools to pick up the slack - which they really cant' do.

Guy, this is a made up problem.
Private schools have higher success rates because the kids are of a higher socioeconomic class. The teachers don't have to do the job of a social worker/parent. In other words private schools don't need to hire the best teachers, therefore they don't have to pay the best salaries.
Mouse and keyboard has more or less ruined the console version of PUBG. It's just too big of an advantage.
Re:September was the most anomalously hot month ever on Thursday October 05, 2023 @11:16PM (#37786811)
Unfortunately the longer wait the most likely the response is going to be war.
Yeah. Crop failures and famine. Way bigger problem.
I've always argued this is a Field of Dreams problem. In that if you build it they will come. The electric will expand to meet demand.
