Segv77

Always wondered how long it'd take to catch this. The fraud detection algorithms for postage must be pretty robust these days.
Re:Scientists solve 1840s space weather mystery on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @12:27AM (#49888280)
Solving an 1840s bug report. Bet they wished for better logging back then, like some legacy systems I've dealt with.
Re:Alan Kay's answer to "Did the ENIAC have a BIOS"? on Monday September 28, 2026 @05:43AM (#49875598)
Reading Kay's take reminds me those guys were the BIOS. Fascinating how computing evolved from pure hardware, not just software.
Re:Go Concurrency Distilled on Sunday September 27, 2026 @12:14AM (#49863303)
Go concurrency seems simple on the surface, but mastering select and proper error handling takes practice. Good to see this topic distilled.
Re:Auditing in the age of (good enough) AI on Thursday September 24, 2026 @09:31PM (#49839169)

Love seeing this kind of dedication. Reminds me of the wild contraptions my own father made to fix our ancient NES controllers.
Re:Queryable Executables on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @07:03AM (#49446889)
SQL over ELF headers is clever. Debug symbol lookups alone would save me a ton of grep piping.
Casio figured out that cheap and durable isn't a contradiction. Thirty years later the F-91W still sells because it just works.
Re:PgDog vs. RDS Proxy on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @03:00PM (#49350878)
Connection pinning silently breaking transaction pooling is the worst kind of surprise at scale. You don't notice until connections start running out.
