This person is just posting absolutely baseless claims, as if Atlassian, a company that basically exists purely on the back of B2B SaaS sales, has not considered EU data residency requirements in their core product offering: https://www.atlassian.com/software/data-residency
Tynan has been pretty positive about LLMs on his twitter. I obviously don't have any inside information, but I think it would be very surprising to me if there was zero usage of a frontier model in doing something like this.
And yet they can't mention or admit that LLMs were involved or the gamers would rise up.
I think you wildly underestimate how much more empowered the people monitoring social media escalations are versus the standard front-line support. In a clear-cut case like this I can absolutely imagine someone getting pinged and pressing the 'kill bad thing' button immediately after the post hitting the front page, because I've seen this happen many times.
Re:DeCloudflare on Friday September 11, 2026 @09:39PM (#49667786)
you literally keep making points that have absolutely nothing to do with what the site said, as another commenter has pointed down below. but flag away!
Re:DeCloudflare on Friday September 11, 2026 @08:29PM (#49667286)
yeah i guess if you can't read and pretend they're trying to make a completely different point, then this all makes sense. i kind of expect most people on HN to be literate tho
Re:DeCloudflare on Friday September 11, 2026 @07:34PM (#49666889)
Incredibly disappointing just how many comments are making fun of the site for not handling the traffic, and saying that "they should have just used Cloudflare". Would Cloudflare caching the site have helped? Maybe/probably, but the user's point (visible on the github mirror https://github.com/jiakaiBot/deCloudflare/blob/89983e1501dbb...) has nothing to do with availability and everything to do with Cloudflare's position as a gatekeeper on the internet.

People who have been around for awhile should probably remember the days when every DDoS site on the internet was hosted behind Cloudflare and CF was notoriously slow about responding to abuse complaints or helping them get to the actual hosts on the other side. Or when Matthew went on a whole thing about how he had a moral obligation to provide services to literal nazis.

Re:DeCloudflare on Friday September 11, 2026 @07:27PM (#49666817)
incredibly weird first comment to post on HN, especially when nothing about this has anything to do with any configuration. the entire thing is about cloudflare's outsized role in controlling connectivity on the internet, which is very real.
Re:Mamdani Bans AI in NYC Schools on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @06:46PM (#49543619)
they literally said that they think Mamdani is doing the right thing and that they understand they're hindering their education by using AI the way they are, did you even read the comment before making your response?
Re:Where .env Went Wrong on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @11:52AM (#49170657)
the blog post is absolute slop though
Nothing about OP's story sounds plausible or reasonable. The criminal gangs are magically afraid of flock cameras but not any other kind of surveillance? They had footage of the crooks but it took too long to evaluate it, and yet the cops knew exactly which gang was doing it?
Re:Resetting Xbox on Monday July 06, 2026 @09:09PM (#48812511)
yeah good post, it does nothing to support your point or answer my question, thanks for sharing.
Re:Resetting Xbox on Monday July 06, 2026 @06:08PM (#48811140)
you think you have some amazing analogy but it's utterly nonsensical. where is microsoft putting this money that is going to earn it more? are they low on cash on hand? why are they not investing every dollar they have on these magical free returns that just need more cash?
Re:Are readers generating fiction with AI models? on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @03:00PM (#48751601)
SillyTavern and the size of like Character.ai at its peak shows pretty obviously that people are doing exactly this!
Re:FUTO Swipe – A new swipe typing model on Wednesday June 24, 2026 @01:15AM (#48655466)
Hahaha, yes. Though now I'm imagining an incredible alternative world where I only install the most enshittified pieces of software.
Re:FUTO Swipe – A new swipe typing model on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @04:19PM (#48650759)
Great timing given I just installed SwiftKey since Microsoft has started embedding ads and dark pattern redirects to Bing!
Re:Mathematicians issue warning as AI rapidly gains ground on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @06:41PM (#48391111)
This is quite a way to admit that you don't have any writers or artists in your social group. It has absolutely gutted jobs in these industries, and will continue to do so.

If you think 'most people are completely put off by AI slop', you're living in a blessed bubble because: most people cannot even tell that the slop is slop, and are happy to engorge themselves on it.

Re:Amazon Has Axed Its New Stargate Series on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @02:13AM (#48380561)
you're living in a fantasy world besieged by an ideology that doesn't actually exist
Re:Amazon Has Axed Its New Stargate Series on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @09:48PM (#48378824)
"modern wokeness", ah, yes. Because the show about religion as a means of control, that featured strong women throughout, was broadly about how colonialism is bad and the importance of respecting different cultures, that brute force was almost never the 'right answer' is anti-woke.
Re:Gmail thinks I'm stupid, so I left on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @04:11PM (#48375566)
I often think about leaving gmail, but it's not clear what the better option out there is, that doesn't create a bunch of pain in terms of not having good replacements for the rest of the ecosystem.
Re:Private Equity Bought America's Essential Services on Wednesday May 27, 2026 @11:13AM (#48295583)
this article is literally just an LLM regurgitation of Stoller / Musharbash's reporting and research on the topic.
Re:Private Equity Bought America's Essential Services on Wednesday May 27, 2026 @11:11AM (#48295544)
this is a peak HN comment in terms of cluelessness about the realities of how the world works if you're an ordinary person.
i think they would probably shill for something more achievable than a shirt you can sometimes get once a year at costco, haha
Re:Linux security mailing list 'almost unmanageable' on Monday May 18, 2026 @02:22PM (#48183465)
The Register has always been a... weird 'news' source, but they've gotten significantly worse over the last year or two.
Re:Hindenburg's Smoking Room on Sunday May 17, 2026 @02:45PM (#48171952)
It's actually mandated by the FAA that an ashtray be present in the restrooms:

> (g) Regardless of whether smoking is allowed in any other part of the airplane, lavatories must have self-contained, removable ashtrays located conspicuously on or near the entry side of each lavatory door, except that one ashtray may serve more than one lavatory door if the ashtray can be seen readily from the cabin side of each lavatory served.

And the plane literally cannot fly with an inoperable or missing ashtray.

Will they? Have you gone through that process with them? In my experience (admittedly somewhat stale) it was fairly hard to get through to them, much less to get the information required to actually report bad actors to their real hosting provider that Cloudflare is fronting.
Yes, Cloudflare has always been really shitty and automated at responding to abuse reports, and because they are the front-end connection, it is impossible to pursue the report against the 'real' host unless Cloudflare is willing to provide you with information about where that host is: which they won't typically do, even if you are a fellow infrastructure provider. It's been several years, so maybe they have gotten better, but I would be surprised.
Re:Life During Class Wartime on Wednesday May 06, 2026 @05:24PM (#48042072)
This is a great soundbite, but it's also completely vacuous. Wanting the government to take action against a clear societal issue is not wanting the government to be God.
Re:NASA Built Artemis II's Fault-Tolerant Computer on Thursday April 09, 2026 @10:36PM (#47712941)
will nobody think of the megacorps!!!
