It hasn't. Debian has releases every 2 years, same as Ubuntu LTS, and packages are up to date at the point of release.

Unfortunately that's been dwindling. Canonical seems to be focused on servers and virtualised instances. The desktop experience is stagnant.

If we compare Debian Stable to Ubuntu LTS, it's the same update cycle.

So Ubuntu LTS is pretty much Debian Stable with some different defaults (more opinionated, for better or worse).

Testing is the staging area for the new Stable release.

However, one thing that many people don't know is that Testing enters a package freeze every time a new Stable release is to come out. And this freeze can last anywhere between 4 to 7 months. So for that time period, it stops having frequent updates and becomes essentially a stable distro.

Took them long enough to change!

Both Inter and Iosevka are gorgeous fonts.

Cantarell was so, so ugly.

Threading as in grouping together all replies to an email. This is still somewhat buggy on Thunderbird in 2026.
Re:When did Google get so f-ing weird? on Monday September 28, 2026 @11:25AM (#49879533)
Last time I tried Kagi, which was a few months ago, it was 90% Google results, just with a tad of filtering and reordering.

So the trick is to drop that nonsensical AI summarizer at the top.

Re:When did Google get so f-ing weird? on Monday September 28, 2026 @11:22AM (#49879481)
Kagi uses mainly Google for its search results, so that's a given.

But in this case, the discount comes with a downgrade. Still worth it for many people, and Microsoft shouldn't hide it.
I used to listen to this album all the time some good 15 years ago, but have forgot its name.

Thank you so much for this. I am so glad to find this again.

It seems to be a British article.

For European standards, it's not only cold but would be absurdly illegal.

Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @05:30PM (#49634675)
It was a genuine question. I also suffer from eye issues and a bigger font and warmer colours really help, with no need for a bigger screen in my experience.

Absolutely no need to be rude.

Why don't you try an increased font size with the display size you already got?
Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @06:33PM (#49618089)
Well, perhaps. But to the same extent that all the other social networks' usage numbers would also be highly inflated.

git rebase --update-refs

If one wants to keep it to vanilla git.

Europe has a concept novel to most Americans which is known as public transport.
You need to travel more. Plenty of people in Canadian cities rely on public transport just fine.

It's called 365 Classic and it's hidden in the Subscriptions section of your Microsoft account.
They haven't been dominant in the gaming market for a long time now. Since the beginning of the last generation (Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch), Microsoft has had the worst selling game consoles. And they are getting weaker with every year: the Xbox director was fired just a few weeks ago.

What a rude thing to say. No one is forcing you to use it.

It's hardly annual price times 30. You must account for inflation.
It's literally in the second item under Section 1.
If it wasn't for Turing your job might not have been a thing. If it wasn't for Tim Berners-Lee, we might not have been here having this discussion.

Hint: neither is/was American. Just to throw some examples.

Re:FAQ on Leaving Google on Thursday January 18, 2024 @01:46AM (#39038749)
They had a YouTube. It was called Google Video, and it went nowhere.
Re:Google Podcasts to shut down in 2024 on Friday October 06, 2023 @05:05PM (#37796406)
Google Video was YouTube’s competitor. Only after some years Google acquired YT
I have one of the same model. WiFi connection doesn’t seem to work. I’ve tried every troubleshooting article I could find, to the extent of setting a static IP for it in my router. Otherwise a great printer, but that issue did leave a bad taste in my mouth
Re:Return to Office Is Bullshit and Everyone Knows It on Monday October 02, 2023 @01:28PM (#37741499)
It is about being present in the office. As opposed to working from home, as in a house in the US.
Re:MP3 vs. AAC vs. FLAC vs. CD on Sunday October 01, 2023 @11:58AM (#37727183)
It could be simply a difference in sound volume. Our brains tend to believe louder is better.
