Re:HP introduces new Apple iMac on Monday September 10, 2012 @01:39PM (#4500957)
So everything "converges" to Apple designs because it is the end all designs of everything ... Or so say the anti Apple crowd in here and Samsung and other copycats. Disappointed with HP in this shameless look a like product.
Re:Good riddance, PayPal on Thursday September 06, 2012 @09:36AM (#4484072)
I have a Visa debitcard, but it is only good for use in ATM and stores. To overcome this I get a bunch of Visa gift cards from my bank that I can put money into and use online.

About the price of the chinese Android mediacenters. Probably nice, but the great thing about the Pi is the community support.
Re:Oracle makes move to kill open source MySQL on Sunday September 02, 2012 @03:48PM (#4467902)
But they could happen in the future to work for a corporation that would like to pay, but as it stands they will never suggest using MySQL. Thus MySQL will slowly disappear from the youngs mindshare and Oracle will make no money at all on it.

SQLite is very nice for simple single user apps :-)
Re:Oracle makes move to kill open source MySQL on Sunday September 02, 2012 @01:40PM (#4467586)
I used to enjoy working with Oracle databases, but the horrible pricing and high need for dba maintenance was always discomforting. Switch for a while to MSSQL, but then the market for Windows apps disappeared. Have been using mySQL with very little sort of DB satisfaction. Now I don't know why anyone would not choose PostgreSQL for almost any project. Oracle is a bad apple, making money with methods aking to extortion.

http://web2py.com/book I never see any of the cool guys mentioning web2py. Thinking of using it in an upcoming project. Wonder what is "wrong" with it? :-)
Re:Turn an ATX Power Supply into a Bench Power Supply on Friday September 30, 2011 @02:34AM (#3055923)
I use a poweradaptor from a dead external disk. They output a steady 5v and 10-12v. Just cut the cable and add some banana clips. Great for powering a breadboard for a hobbyist.
Re:What Your Old Graphing Calculator Says About Technology on Wednesday August 24, 2011 @05:58PM (#2922635)
Still use my HP 48sx daily ... A bit hard to turn on, but I really can't justify buying a new to calculate css pixels ...
Re:Mythbusters: Stored Procedures Edition on Monday August 01, 2011 @10:58AM (#2832436)
The fear of SQL, stored procedures, proper database constraints, the love of ORM and the embrace of nosql exists because a large portion of influental programmers just don't bother to understand relational databases and SQL. It's not in fashion, so it becomes a necesseary evil the primadonna rock star will try to avoid at any cost. Just like a real rock star might drop to learn to read notes or sing for that matter. Obviously DB theory should be regarded just as important as understanding the latest greatest language feature and framework.

You don't ned the / just use space. Sometimes you will hit a product model, giving more results, than birth and death dates.
Re:Could It Be? Spooky Experiments That 'See' The Future on Wednesday January 05, 2011 @03:19AM (#2070343)
The question is. Do they see the future or make the future. Somedays I'm convinced computers react to my moods.
