Do you have a citation for the number of administrators breakdown? I didn't see a reference in the Time article but maybe I missed it.
Very much not challenging the experiences in this post but I will say:

Women ABSOLUTELY ask for equality/equity in other industries!

Firefighting: https://www.powerdms.com/blog/women-in-the-fire-service/ Sanitation: https://www.worldbank.org/en/news/feature/2019/08/27/breakin...

This took me literally 45 seconds of googling.

Gerstmann's firing was widely reported at the time, he immediately turned around and created an influential gaming website that's still successful today, and Kane and Lynch didn't do well. Not a great example.
Anecdotally, my female Japanese friend outright rejected the idea of going back to work after having a kid and said that lots of her friends feel the same way. There seems to be a strong cultural thing around women becoming stay-at-home mom's instead of rejoining the workforce.
I played through W1 (for the second time) in 2017, W2 in Jan (only got 1/3 of the way through originally), and W3 in March (first time). Each game approaches combat in very different ways in terms of mechanics but I felt that each contained the same core essence. I preferred the combat in W2 but I could absolutely understand why someone would prefer W1. I would say that W1 is a deeply flawed but still great game, W2 is simply a great game, and W3 is one of the best games ever.

There are ~~absolutely~~ fantastic stories in video games. There are plenty of games that you play for the story and the gameplay is just meh.
Re:Tech takes over: New York is the sector's second city on Monday February 26, 2018 @04:11PM (#16469000)
I lived in Harlem 30 minutes from Midtown in a 2bdrm with a roommmate for 850, I now live in Boerum Hill (really nice neighborhood) 30 minutes from Midtown in a studio for 1800. It's really not hard to find places that aren't that expensive, you just have to be patient / willing to have a roommate or two.
Re:Candy Japan 2017 Year in Review on Wednesday December 27, 2017 @11:07AM (#16015532)
I was actually thinking about canceling the service (trying to save a little more money + eat healthier) but I really love articles like this so I'll stay on for at least a few more months :)

I would say for me, the personal story is a big selling point. You're just a guy who moved to Japan and started this service as opposed to some faceless conglomerate. The new landing page is much nicer but maybe add some of the stuff in the "Who runs Candy Japan?" page to the landing?

This is the right approach. The problem with the vast majority of multi-page resumes is that the writer has an editing problem. If you can fill out 5 pages with worthwhile info, I suppose that would be fine? But if you're at the level where you can fill out 5 pages of worthwhile info, you'd be recruited directly by the CTO and your resume wouldn't come close to me.
I live in NYC, the city is basically sliced and diced by the internet providers. Every apartment I've had I haven't had a choice.
They didn't attribute any kind of percentage to the bots. Just that the bots exist and the subs exist which are both bad.
Re:Millennials to Small Cities: Ready or Not, Here We Come on Monday November 06, 2017 @02:03PM (#15637950)
I live in a city and have 2 full-fledged grocery stores + approx 70 bodegas and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Also have a Target + Best Buy.
Re:How we invented new ways to teach Japanese on Friday May 19, 2017 @03:40PM (#14378782)
I've been using Human Japanese fairly consistently for the last 6 months or so. I have a few chapters left so can't speak to the Kanji sections but I've really enjoyed the app as a whole. I found hiragana/katakana to be a little rough because the sets of characters were spread out so I recommend a flashcard app for the characters instead. But the context and style of presentation the app has makes it so easy to understand what you are actually trying to accomplish. Big fan.
Re:Japan Shows the Way to Affordable Megacities (2014) on Sunday May 07, 2017 @05:51PM (#14287895)
Not to really counter anything you're saying here but for my current NYC studio (with a cat) I had to give 3.5x the monthly rent the day I signed the lease.

- first month's rent

- security deposit worth a month's rent

- 15% brokers fee

Admittedly, NYC is terrible with its broker stuff but switching over to Tokyo wouldn't have been that dramatic if you were coming from this coast instead.

I did one personal training session last year and got Rhabdo from it. Guy from the article is lucky he was in the hospital for only 1 day; I stayed 4 nights and they didn't even want to let me go then.
Re:Taxi, Uber, and Lyft Usage in New York City on Wednesday April 06, 2016 @12:18AM (#11436563)
Chiming in with the crowd, I've taken 17 Uber rides (16 in NYC, 1 in Austin). I have never had a white driver.
