Re:Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone on Friday October 23, 2026 @07:05AM (#50207118)
The real question is: is he going to sue Vanity Fair? If not, he can say all he wants on X, but the message is clear; Vanity Fair's evidence apparently holds up.

School is mostly designed to dump information on people's heads. To function in a business and be able to DO things effectively, you need experience.

Schools came up with internships (which originated in the apprenticeship system) because they could not provide this experience, so how do you expect people to gain the necessary knowledge just from schools if there are no more internships or junior roles?

Re:MCP is dead. Long live the CLI on Monday March 02, 2026 @07:42AM (#47217292)
This. I work with lots of business users who don't even know what a CLI is. They just want company apps to be connected to a (secure/managed) LLM and interact with those apps via a chat interface. So, MCP definitely has a place for the overwhelming majority of knowledge workers who aren't tech-savvy like developers.

Except, there is? Comprehensible input is how you've learned your native language, and how any human learns their first language(s). After all, you can't output (produce) what you haven't first learned (gotten as input).

Re:Using Anki to remember what you read on Thursday March 05, 2020 @07:56AM (#22493119)
Yes. After class, I would review my notes and add new items. Reviewing for exams amounted to those 5 hours average, spread over 3-4 weeks.

That depends on what knowledge you're trying to retain. When I majored in Spanish in college I was extremely efficient compared to my classmates. Whereas most would memorize lists of words and sentences and dedicate tens of hours to it, I would average less than 5 hours of preparation time per exam.
Surprise, surprise, the military-industrial complex is destroying our planet. How people can still support this is beyond me.
Re:Stoicism's Appeal to the Rich and Powerful on Thursday March 28, 2019 @08:46AM (#19511614)
This article is okay, but contains some misinformation about the origin and principles of Stoicism. The NYT article itself was an absolute disgrace, completely misrepresenting what Stoicism is.

The non-democratic EU is not the problem? The people having the real power in the EU are not elected (the European Commission).
Re:Gurdjieff and the Women of ‘The Rope’ (1997) on Monday March 18, 2019 @10:56AM (#19421555)
Would you really? Truly realizing your own mortality is very powerful. Would you rather prepare for a challenge, or be thrown into it completely unprepared?
