Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:50PM (#50279889)
Does Apple make their own displays? Maybe they just ran out of panels you could buy without a digitizer already built-in.
Re:iPhone Duo Teardown on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @01:17AM (#50254971)
No, buy a new one and try it for a month. Apple's return policy is very lenient.

This person really needs therapy.
damned if you do, damned if you don't

Would love to see if I could vibe-code a patch to disable ads on ESPN+ for Apple TV

It's too late for that...people have been shot and killed directly because of AirTags.
Old UI was better

We're really not far from that with this: https://github.com/willfaust/madeira

The ecosystem for running x86 games on snapdragon phones is already fairly robust. Crossover on my apple silicon mac works wonders.

Bring your weights in an AWS-snowball-like briefcase with an armed guard handcuffed to it.
Re:Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them on Monday October 12, 2026 @12:28AM (#50051390)
There are many hardware keys that support webauthn, like YubiKey.
Yeah. I read the first 5 paragraphs, and that's as far as I could get.

"At least nine issues tell the same story"

"every change lands in both at once"

It's Claudlish, so of course a community full of people who spend lots of time talking to Claude would notice this.

Re:PipePipe: NewPipe hard fork implementing SponsorBlock on Saturday September 26, 2026 @05:57PM (#49860908)
I honestly don't see how those two things are related.
They can always add some obfuscation/hardware attestation bullshit to make it harder to scrape.

Shout out to the Jeff Geerling video about this
I had a fake ID, and it being scannable was a huge selling point. Convenience stores all scan, and don't seem to care if you look underage. I was only turned down two or three times, usually at bars and restaurants.
Re:Child Sexual Abuse Material Persists on X on Saturday September 12, 2026 @02:33PM (#49675585)
I said that I ran a company that could benefit from having access to that list, and could benefit NCMEC by reporting when we stumbled upon content which shows up in the list. (It's content scanning software for the adult film industry)
Google "Ukraine war Starlink". Neolibs who hate Musk's companies unconditionally are going to go quiet real fucking fast, I bet.
Is that because everyone you know lives in a high-wealth country/area?
okay for real, i think you have elon derangement syndrome.
Precise motives? I don’t know, I don’t think I have any. I don’t use starlink myself or have a Tesla or invest in any of his companies. Feels silly to disclaim that, but there you go.

Having used starlink before on a plane and on land, it’s fast and seems far superior to previous generations of satellite internet. I’m earnestly asking if creating problems for astronomers is outweighed by giving more people access to the internet. Not just giving them “access”, but giving them very fast and low latency access.

I’m a human that just so happens to disagree with you. I don’t like Elon either, but what I dislike more is that it’s impossible to talk about any of his companies without people like you assuming my motives.
maybe Internet for people on earth matters more than astronomy
Re:Child Sexual Abuse Material Persists on X on Friday September 11, 2026 @07:58PM (#49667069)
I just got access to the NCMEC's hashlists for my startup. It was fairly easy.
Re:IceCream – Never use print() to debug again on Sunday July 19, 2026 @03:43AM (#48965799)

I haven't written my own code in months at this point...kind of depressing to think about

Re:Ask HN: Are you still using a Vision Pro? on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @02:38AM (#48472314)
I'm not sleeping on it, I know how good it is. It costs $3500.
