Your definition is easiest is so tortured that you definitely belong in the US.
This is regulatory capture plain and simple.

You couldn't be more wrong then. Just among the countries I've looked into: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Spain all have a much easier immigration process. The US is notorious for their long nonsensical immigration process.
Re:Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low on Friday October 16, 2026 @09:00PM (#50126767)
I haven't been rejected to any. I'm just monitoring changing requirements and sentiment in other countries, primarily Asia and parts of Europe. If you have suggestions for countries I'm open to them.
Re:Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low on Friday October 16, 2026 @01:39PM (#50121652)
That depends on what you mean by accepting. Culturally or legally? Legally the immigration process to the US has always been one of the hardest and the bureaucracy around it is a nightmare.
Re:Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low on Friday October 16, 2026 @01:14PM (#50121265)
I'm trying to get out of the US but every other country is also having their own anti-immigration moment right now.
Re:Column built an issuer processor from scratch on Friday September 18, 2026 @10:31PM (#49762733)
Plaid was a security nightmare for years before they were basically forced at gunpoint to get it together and even then it just seems from the outside that they are better. I'm not sure I would trust any company by the founder.
I would love to know what alternative phone OSes exist. I would happily throw money and my engineering weight behind a promising project.
It's like PC parts being modular. IBMs greatest mistake and the industry wants to make sure it never happens again.
Ridiculous question and implication. Having a utility for something you do over and over with the same steps is automation 101.
The laws are for you and me not companies like Anthropic and Meta.
Re:FreeInk: Open ecosystem for e-readers on Tuesday July 21, 2026 @04:16PM (#48997632)
I want this but for ePaper tablets like Remarkable.
This is back to the propaganda that people need to recycle because big companies dont want to clean up after themselves.
Re:Local Qwen isn't a worse Opus, it's a different tool on Thursday June 18, 2026 @01:34AM (#48581215)
Tokens per second. The difference between 8B and something like 16B is not as big as you might think in practical usage and 8B is a lot faster and interactive than 16B but there are certain things where it is useful to farm it out to the large model.
Distinction without a difference as it pertains to the conversation. Most of the money SpaceX received from the government was under the COTS program where NASA gave SpaceX money to develop a product and then NASA would become a customer of that product. It is as close as you can get to a technical subsidy without it being technically a subsidy.
What SKG is asking for is not only technical reality but easy to do if you plan for it from the start.
You say "... was said to be" as if it's a fairy tale. SpaceX was subsidized by gov contracts. That's just a fact.
I have worked at several tech companies that deal with data compliance. Most audits are jokes and most of your data is not secure.
They are talking about the millions of lines of code they stole to make the product in the first place and I'm sure you know that.
Most people are not good at their jobs and IDEs like Cursor let bad SWEs feel more productive because they are committing more code.
It is subsidized by gov contracts. Everyone who has common sense immediately said the real money is Altman getting into the governments pants which is why he and Brockman lobby so hard. You take away those contracts and OpenAI is dead in the water.
Re:Why I email complete strangers on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @09:43PM (#48564715)
Most apartments I've lived in have a communal rec room of sorts. No one ever uses it.
Re:Why I email complete strangers on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @12:13AM (#48550501)
This is funny but true. I don't think I've spoken to my neighbors in any place I've lived in 10 years other than maybe awkwardly running into each other in the hallway.
Yes when you are away from society you don't require a device to connect with society.
Re:AI agent runs amok in Fedora and elsewhere on Thursday June 11, 2026 @10:34AM (#48490921)
I would say most open-source projects are passion projects run for pleasure.
This comment is so divorced from reality. It is very difficult to live life in the modern world without a phone unless you want to go Amish.

Tangled is working on something like that. I believe they are federating on the @protocol.

The reason will be that not everyone wants to deal wit maintaining a self-hosted box.
Re:Google Cloud Fraud Defence is just WEI repackaged on Friday May 08, 2026 @02:05PM (#48066673)
I do wonder how people who work on this don't see themselves as the bad guy.
Re:Talking to 35 Strangers at the Gym on Monday May 04, 2026 @12:16PM (#48010687)
I relate to the amount of `I didn't know what to say so I left` in this post and don't know what to do about it.
