It is a real problem. The questions is for whom? For the majority of canon R5 buyers? I doubt that.
But imagine a database as a pod with 60gig of ram and a ha setup. Now you need to update your node, what does k8s? It will throw it out and creates a new one which needs to recover or read all the logs to fill up 60gig of ram again from nothing. Instead it could migrate this pod to another node and keep the downtime to a minimum.
Or a jenkins master, it has to shutdown on node 1, recreate to node 2 which takes time and then your agents need to be able to recover from it.
You have to be able to roll through your whole k8s infrastructure to update every node on a regular basis; Alone for security reasons.
The market segmentation is totally different for that.
I would still buy it. I have a Canon 80d and 90d and i rarely do any video recording at all. why? Because just a recording ready body doesn't give you good video. You need audio equipment etc. and 8k video is huge like wtf huge.
I can't imagine how you got used to the performance you have right now. Either you are not doing anything with your device or you would hugely benefit of upgrading at least every 3 years or so.
Meetings, is another one.
Doing presentations.
Also for me at least: On-Call.
I would prefer a workstation at home and a lightweight laptop with company network access but hey my companie prefers to buy me a Laptop for 3k over a desktop for 1k and a light laptop for 1k.
What can i do? yeah nothing :)
You are running the newest of the newest.
My Lenovo Thinkpad X390 which i'm sitting on right now for a while, still has ~8h left to go.
Chrome with 30 tabs, intellij etc. open and running.
I do assume the M1 is doing a great job, don't get me wrong, but i would like to see a more objective comparison.
Personally speaking, the most interesting thing for me to see is that Apple now put a very strong SoC on all its models. From Air to Pro, with a relative good price point (as long as you don't upgrade anything...)
We have great shiny things like the internet; Video, Computer games, a lot more music, everyone can vote, smoking indoors is not normal etc.
We are living in a different world. Its not feasible to compare it to a time 50 years ago.
I prefer this time honestly.
It is stated on their website.
The main market for this camera is probalby not 8k video.
Its also hard to determine if this is a real issue for canon or if its just an issue in a circle of people who are more vocal about it.
I haven't even started watching this video and had the same thought of transporting the heat through the bottom.
Whatever made canon made it like this, was on purpose.
Either the concentrated on picture for the most time and realized to late and it would have required rebuilding core parts and not getting it out in time or they will bring out a camera/pro version to this with unlimited 8k recording and with a higher price.
The assumption that a hobby engineer can solve this issue while canon can't, is not realistic.
Based alone on the original firmware approach, i would argue that time or priority was the issue.
This GitOps 'nonsense' gives me a well defined and automatically backuped infrastructure setup with audit build in. It doesn't allow someone to snowflake around which is brilliant and forces you and your colleges to manifest stuff and not forgetting it and degrading your system over time (nix and nixos are also great examples of such systems)
This reminds me of the time i learned html and wanted to set new lines all over a text instead of using proper paragraphs and letting html take care of the proper formatting.
I would like to see a better/stronger statefulset though. As long as this pod is alive, make sure its state is not interrupted. Like allow a pod to be migrated to another node.
Nonetheless, i'm in the middle of setting up kubernetes with kubeadm and cilium network. Its already really easy to do so. It will just get more easy and more stable over time and its already great.
When you look at the storage example: yes its more difficult then just using a hard drive. But you ignore the issue with one hard drive: Backup, checksum / bit rot and recovery. With a storage layer, you can actually increase replica count, you can backup ALL storage volumnes automatically.
the same with networking: With cilium you can now have a lightweight firewall with dns support.
It is much more critical for the whole industry to start rebuilding software to be more cloud/container native. This will reduce the pain points we have right now and will make it more resilient to operate. For example Jenkins: Instead of one big master, have a ha setup for your working queue, a pod for a dashboard and schedule workers on demand.
My personal conclusion: Don't use it, if you don't need it. If you need it, embrace the advantages.
This narrative of 'is a doctor' doesn't make that person an expert.
In a global pandemic like this, i think, you need an expert group of people with a min and max size. Those people need to be in the right position to have access the most amount of data and they need to make suggestions and predictions as accurate as possible. This then needs to be taken by the current government to decide what to do.
Your type of 'doctors' shouldn't comment on it like they are experts; They should start doing research with proper tools and statistics to support the expert group at the top.
It is easy to say something doesn't work after a few days or weeks. Its just not helping. If experts are trying this, the chance, that your opinion was a fluke and now matches your expected outcome, doesn't make you an expert.
All those shitty people thinking wearing a mask is a absolut no go and strips them of their rights are a real problem.
In germany on the 'querdenker' people brought up and compared themselfs with anne frank and sophie scholl because of this. She was 22 when she was killed by the nazis through a guillotine in munich as a student because of distributing anti-war flyers.
Seeing this is one of my most frustrating experiences with our society so far. While there are a lot of people following those simple requests, its astounding how irrational people are in the usa.
A psychedelic is in my opinion not an easy drug at all.
I don't think it is a normal experience for anyone, for the first time, to realize that what you see or what you believe can be influenced that easily.
While halos around light with lsd is nice to watch, its still a crazy thing. I never had visual impairment on that level from weed or alcohol.
Or when you see moving patterns on a wall, it does break one sence you as a human have a lot of trust for.
Our neighbor is an old lady who had cancer and apparently smells sometimes things which are not here. She doesn't want to be crazy and doesn't even accept that it can easily be nerve damage or whatever which makes her sometimes smell things which are not here.
Instead she thinks we and neighbors above her are trying to get her out of her flat. We are living in a very stable modern building, there is no realistic benefit of anyone to boot her out and walls are so thick, there is no noise issue at all. She still called the policies at least twice, had an expert here and was standing in our door twice angry and pissed of because we are creating that smell. It was 2 am in the morning and i was asleep.
Getting tired, not being able to walk well anymore, loosing concentration or forgetting things are apparently easy to understand and to accept as a human.
Since when are captchas a bigger issue than spam bots and fraud users?
and yes i also think that those tasks are actually helping our society. Adding models for self driving cars, for security/emergency breaking systems etc. So whats the issue?
Catpcha was not invented to make the internet worse and solving one is not a real hurdle to you.
I'm not sure why you 'sat down for minutes' to solve any of them, you might just be really bad in comparison to a lot of other peoples.
Nonetheless, this helps YOU it makes YOUR experience better by making it harder for bots.
Have you ever seen a community killed by spam bots? You are probably quite happy that the amount of spam in comments etc. are as low as it is.
Lying in a hospital bed and tripping for the first time might just a little bit crazy.
NOT! Saying it should be illegal, i think the current laws are braindead.
I can see why it is frightening to many 'normal' people who are just living their lives, wanting to have a house, family, job, holidays and perhaps partially overwhelmed by all of that already anyway.
I brought weed brownies to a birthday party for me and also for good friends to try if they wanted to. They live in 'rural' areas. Its common for them to drink alcohol, a lot. Drugs? no never no interest don't care.
While i already had ~5 year of experience with weed, they didn't even see it once. why would they? They have alcohol, it works for them, its common, easy and fun.
They had a really really hard time of even trying a brownie. They didn't even get why i would smoke weed if the effects are shallow. They didn't knew that you will not see halluzinations.
i think i'm over curious. This leads me to not being happy about what i have and looking for new. They are under curious and they are happy with that they have. Is that a problem? No its just different balanced.
Yes the experience of LSD is shattering your own reality but for me, i'm very conscious to not promote it in something everyone needs to experience.
Having a flashback on the toilet 4 weeks later and thinking 'does it ever go away, am i imprisoned now, did i break my brain' for 10 minutes, is something difficult to handle.
Also while doing it and experiencing once, i'm fine with doing it every decade once, still not promoting it to everyone.
Giving LSD to someone on their death bed without prior experience? Holy shit no.
I don't know where the sweat spot is, but i don't think it is at a 10 person company. I believe its more in the range of 500 or 1000 person company.
Microsoft Teams Chat UI is garbage. It uses a lot of space, i can't just have a list of channels, no i need groups etc.
It even doesn't matter to me if its slack or hipchat or matrix or whatever. I don't know why we migrated to slack.
I don't get why Teams doesn't provide a lightweight chat typical UI. I would just switch to Teams. After all video calls are much better on Teams and more stable.
But then Slack integrated Teams and Zoom. They clearly don't want to compete in this area and i also don't get why.
One central high quality HR Team can scale easily in a big org while the same amount in small companies need spend more on HR.
And its not just HR of course.
I wouldn't even trust small companies to build a modern and secure cloud product. While big companies have their own Security Teams and are able to afford a normal security audit, for a small company that means 1. much higher cost in relation and also binding of personal they might not have.
I have worked in a very small company which basically couldn't spell security. And i'm now working in a very big company. There are plenty of people who also can't do that but there are teams only for security.
I don't have to justify now that i'm doing things securely. Thats how it is. My manager will not sign the risk away; He actually can't and people are not keen of asking upper upper management for that.
I didn't comprehend how someone thought it would be a good idea to move the button for a new ticket away from the main screen to that sidebar thing where it took an additional click to do so.
Yes lets add another click to the most used function in my workflow...
When there is a team member where you feel something is off from a performance perspective and they should do the same things as other colleges and there is a hard difference between them, it helps you that your gut feeling is not that off.
While i agree that a hard drive cost can bottom out, i don't think we have bottomed out at the right price.
Why would it make sense, at all, to produce a 300gb drive in 2020? It doesn't. Are they using machines which are not able to create better plates in 3,5" sizes? If yes, they probably ride those machines for a long time. Should be paid of by now 10x
If you really want to play and use vinyl, you should try to read up on it yourself shopping around and experience it, otherwise you just have something at home because its hip to have it at home.
You might just like the weirder sound from your selection even more.
There are plenty of good youtube channels and videos showing you a varity on options you have to explore.
