You can't discuss the quotes though. What if you want to find out what it means, or the context it was said?
Excellent comment, and truly helpful. I think we all should email the CEO and get him to resolve this. He'll be hearing from me.
Did it change how you feel about interacting with people in general?I'm more at ease initiating conversations and making small talk. The change over how I used to be is huge.
Last summer I took the Rejection Therapy[1] challenge. For anyone unaware of what that is, it's a game where you're supposed to get rejected by someone
in person for 30 days consecutively.
So I'm on a crowded bus, sitting beside a middle age woman with a severe look on her face. I still had to get rejected that day, so I opened up a can of salted cashews that was in my grocery bag and nervously offered her some.
She seemed startled at first and declined (I got my rejection), but then thanked me in a thick German accent.
She said she immigrated from Germany to Canada 11 years ago and did not have any friends here. She also lived at the same house all this time and not once did her neighbors introduce themselves or say hello. She said it was rare that a stranger would be kind to her.
Her intense expression was gone and we chatted for the rest of the ride. I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone and made contact with this random stranger. It made her happy and me happy too.
If you want a way to meet new people, Rejection Therapy is ideal. Many of the rejection cards require interacting with strangers.

There will be people who will read this, agree with every word, and still make excuses so they can use Google everyday and not change.
I spent several weeks focusing on a single project, only to find out I was confused and wasted my time.
I'm not even sure how I managed to go so far without realizing it. It's never happened to me before. Brutal.
I see the potential of an internet mime here.
To the author of this post and anyone else who may be the victim of cyber-abuse: my heart goes out to you, but you
must fight back. Tooth and nail, fullest extent of the law, the whole she-bang.
It seems to me the victim in this account held back, thereby preventing justice and prolonging the abuse.
I didn't find that method helpful, but I guess YMMV.
I've had as many startups fail as HN usernames hellbanned. Lost count.
This post has been getting a lot of mileage on both HN and layervault. Perhaps disproportionately.
Overall, the comments there are a more enjoyable read.
I already dropped Dropbox. It's a done deal. I moved everything over to Yandex.
Anyone else notice that the comments at washingtonpost.com are more insightful and succinct than here at HN?
Some people would say similar about stock tickers. Just a bunch of evolving values.
I think these scientists should starve themselves instead of animals. It's called having skin in the game.
Whoa. Lots of work just to read a PDF. I like your writing style btw.
