Re:Toyota completes phase 1 construction of futuristic city on Wednesday February 26, 2025 @01:27AM (#43181245)
Looks a bit like "Aarhus Ø" in my city. a part of the city that is quite new.

https://aarhusoe.dk/media/owqjyq0b/dji_0091.jpg - the construction site in the corner is done now, its a very very tall building that looks similar to the one in the center - just... very much taller.

it's a terribly crowded place, and i hate it - but at least the apartment buildings look different than all the ol 'red brick cubes' from the 40s and 50s we have in the rest of the city (You can see some of them in the background in this picture)

the keto diets work

studies on 'low carb' diets are varying in the amount of carbs, some go up to like 30% carbs (Daily intake) which is crazy, but 'low' compared to the overall dietary guidelines.

There's some good keto studies though.

i've tried it myself.

keto diet, mainly dairy and meat, ate 2 meals per day. one at 2 PM and another at 7ish PM, and 0 carb energy drinks, not much exercise except a walk to the local supermarket every couple of days. lost 16 kg over 3 months. I was unemployed at the time, and mostly played video games.

Re:Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System on Thursday February 20, 2025 @06:53AM (#43113626)
I like jellyfin

but it still lacked some of the features that made me stick to plex (over VLC)

It'll become better over time, and probably much better than plex. plex dont do many new features, and there's still a ton of issues with it (like... audio is at like -50 dB and you cant hear shit)

Re:The Secret Poker Game You Can Play on the Subway on Thursday February 20, 2025 @04:42AM (#43112848)
So you ask their age or what?

when is a women a women? and when does she become 'elderly' ?

you also cannot see if a teenager is 19 or 20.

Re:Apple's Best Option: Decentralize iCloud on Monday February 10, 2025 @04:12AM (#42998356)

their whole business is stealing data..

so its quite funny to see they freely share it too.

Re:Turn Any Bicycle Electric on Friday January 24, 2025 @12:28AM (#42810755)
this wont work on several lady bikes because how their frame is designed
thats a problem for research that relies on food questionaires and thats been known for a while, and probably why there's even a thing called 'the french paradox' and so on.

but i get it

it's expensive to do properly, and so its not really done that often, and when it happens there's usually only a few participants.

there's so much ai everywhere

so i dont wanna pay for it. especially not google, because.. well, im their product.

Re:A Laptop Stand Made from a Single Sheet of Recycled Paper on Tuesday January 14, 2025 @02:48AM (#42694799)
doesnt look comfy to type on the laptop with that edge at the bottom. My wrists wouldn't like it.

also 22 bucks for a few grams of cardboard? seems excessive. but hey at least it'll break fast, cant handle moisture, and so on.

Re:I deleted my social media accounts on Monday January 13, 2025 @02:02AM (#42680820)
yep

i deleted fb 10ish years ago.

and since then every family event that had been planned, was done on fb (just like before) and i find out about it by a text from my sister.

the trick is to not give a shit. Coz they don't.

Re:Disappointed with the TVs at CES 2025 on Friday January 10, 2025 @05:34AM (#42654455)
how about a smart-remote

its just 1 button and it does what the built in AI predicts you wanna do.

Judging by the stories people have told online over the past few years, it sounds like a pretty standard american working condition...

Though i gotta be honest, i have no idea what the rules are where i live (Denmark)...

I do remember world of warcraft using some funny trickery for their screenshots too. embedding client info into the screenshots, to figure out who took it. (If the player was under NDA or similar)

https://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-...

difficult to spot if you didnt know what to look for

While its certainly possible, its also highly unlikely.
Re:Microsoft should be terrified of SteamOS on Thursday January 09, 2025 @08:37AM (#42645297)
windows isnt a 'gaming pc' though

youre mixing up a computer (brand) with the OS that runs it

How many of the 96% windows PC's are 'alienware'?

how many are 'Acer' of some sort, and so on?

thats what the article is trying to say.

its not saying windows isnt the most widely used OS for gaming devices.

i wonder how that'll work.

how many new jobs will come to exist?

Re:Bitwarden Is Down on Wednesday January 08, 2025 @01:18AM (#42631540)

my workplace selfhosts it, so its not affecting us.

Re:Nvidia announces next-gen RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs on Tuesday January 07, 2025 @01:41AM (#42619950)
Seems kinda silly to make an 8K video card when ... nobody on the planet has an 8K screen
Re:Engineer eats efficiently for $2.50 a day (2016) on Monday January 06, 2025 @05:36AM (#42609398)
i care much more about nutrients per dollar, than overall price
i would assume it CAN Be accurate if people 'look their age' but of course you can easily have someone who looks younger or older than their age that skews the overall etimate
