But they're still keeping the annoying touchbar. I suppose I'm stuck with Dell laptops now.

I think it's because chihuahuas and great danes have all the same bits, just with different scales/shapes. Where as entirely new muscles take a lot more work to evolve.
Kim has no part in running it these days and doesn't trust it.

It's always the adverts that screw up a site. Maybe it's mining crypto currency too?
Re:The Race to Save the Axolotl on Wednesday April 25, 2018 @08:31PM (#16927789)
The USA would benefit a lot if it moved to a more proportional voting system. It seem ridiculous to me that such a large country effectively only has 2 parties.
I dunno about other people, but I almost completely ignore those big background posts. I think my brain sees them as adverts/spam and just filters them out.

What's a good alternative non-proprietary format that all major spreadsheet software supports?

Re:PuTTY 0.68 has been released on Tuesday February 21, 2017 @07:01PM (#13701496)
The default terminal was a bit limited for me, but I hear they're making big improvements to it in later builds.

Re:PuTTY 0.68 has been released on Tuesday February 21, 2017 @06:41PM (#13701352)
I've stopped using PuTTY and now use MinTTY with the Ubuntu subsystem and the regular old Ubuntu SSH client. Specifically this thing: https://github.com/mintty/wsltty

It's real nice and even supports 24bit colour if you're into that.

Re:GitLab Database Incident – Live Report on Tuesday January 31, 2017 @10:15PM (#13537891)
It happens to everyone eventually, so don't feel too bad. But at least now you'll have a much more robust backup process.

What annoys me the most about the interface is that dialogs ALWAYS open on the wrong screen. Is it so hard to open the dialogs on the same screen as the main window?

Apple emulated PowerPC on x86 when they initially switched to Intel CPUs, and it wasn't too bad really.
Re:Web fonts, boy, I don't know on Thursday November 03, 2016 @06:45PM (#12868755)
Nope, I don't think so. It would be hard to pull off as you might be using the font on an <input> and the user could type any character. Or you could be pulling text in through an XHR and won't know in advance what characters will be returned.
Re:How well do you know CSS display? on Wednesday July 06, 2016 @02:53AM (#12041586)
You should try hot-reloading, then it'll work on the first try... kinda.
Re:Spain Runs Out of Workers with Almost 5M Unemployed on Saturday July 02, 2016 @01:08AM (#12021448)
Well, at least they won't have to compete with the UK soon.
Re:Rails 5.0: Action Cable, API mode, and more on Thursday June 30, 2016 @08:09PM (#12012926)
This falls apart when you need multiple scopes as it can't tell how to group the 'AND' and 'OR's. The new Rails syntax avoids this problem.

I don't think he even uses source control, so I imagine the code is not the cleanest.
Re:UK votes to leave EU on Friday June 24, 2016 @12:49AM (#11966603)
While it's not legally binding it would be political suicide for the government to go against the referendum. There's zero chance of them doing that.
Some nanotubes have a similar affect to asbestos when inhaled, so I sure hope they're not just leaving piles of it lying around.

Re:GNU Screen v.4.4.0 on Sunday June 19, 2016 @06:59PM (#11935142)
I use this every single day and it works perfectly. Are you using the default OSX terminal? If so you should try iTerm2 instead.
Re:ECMAScript 2016 Approved on Friday June 17, 2016 @01:02AM (#11920773)
I can't find anything related to it. It's literally the only feature I use in ES7, so I hope it is in there. Perhaps it has some other obscure name?
Re:Why Online Voting Is a Danger to Democracy on Tuesday June 14, 2016 @12:41AM (#11899823)
But those things do go wrong all the time. Luckily they don't dictate who controls the entire country.
You can even do evil like

Re:25-year-old lived for more than a year without a heart on Wednesday June 08, 2016 @12:13AM (#11859965)

Re:Craig Wright Is Not Satoshi Nakamoto on Monday May 02, 2016 @07:47PM (#11616751)
Interesting video, but the resolution is awful, is there a better version out there somewhere?
