Good for you! There are lots of low skill development jobs before AI where low knowledge coders cranked out WordPress sites for marketing, advertising, and small businesses. Sounds like you got in on the ground floor!

Meanwhile companies like Amazon, one of the As in actual FAANG, do have demands on their software quality. To the extent they essentially said "knock off the tokenmaxxing productivity theater" in a recent, publicized internal memo.

Horses for courses. Sometimes you need an thoroughbred and sometimes a pack mule.

And there's nothing wrong with being a pack mule! And nobody expects a pack mule to understand the work of a thoroughbred!

Temporary IMHO. This is a particularly volatile time with earnings and midterms colliding.
Re:Anthropic's growth just flattened (really) on Monday November 02, 2026 @06:35PM (#50345763)
Employees were and are pushing for more model and harness diversity too I promise.

But perhaps for different reasons than Microsoft, Meta, and maybe Adobe leadership are now. See, if they are all in on Claude how do they sue Anthropic for assisting in copyright violations and IP theft? The services would be cut immediately.

Well when they don't need them anymore..

This is why Anthropic is heaping on more and more model restrictions running up to IPO. I believe it's a smokescreen for the IP risk they outlined in their IPO filing..

The price is the price, everything else is bullshit.

Those deep on AI psychosis start using "we" and "us" to refer to themselves and their AI. You see it here on HN all the time and it's weird as shit. Makes it sound like there is a real team, then you figure out it's some vibe bro that's lost his damn mind and started spamming clickbench with PRs for bemchmaxxing cheat slop.

A membership at the Y is worth it for the showers.
Amazing project!

I was worried the user experience might be compromised but this is very faithful to the source.

Like a new door on a familiar house.

Yeah that's gonna pay the mortgage, put food on the table, and cover the insurance premiums LOL.
Re:It wasn't AI that flipped Proton's charge on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:53PM (#50330301)
I'm not a particularly PC person but if someone in leadership where I worked referred to someone's thinking and ask for more time to ensure security as "loser thinking".. It would raise eyebrows, including my own, and likely trigger some sort of coaching at a minimum. This combined with the interviews to keep their jobs that was nix'd after the bad publicity..

Maybe this person was always an asshole, maybe it's the current job market. When the market is cold it brings out the worst in certain people. When their employees are "captive", they can finally treat them how they always viewed them; bottom feeders blessed to be employed.

Looks like Andy Yen, the CEO, was one of the OG founders back in 2014?
> While a good rule of thumb for the US court system is that someone with more money can screw over a smaller party. That's only up until a point.

Exactly.

Adobe had a FY2025 operating income of 8.7b on 23.77bn revenue. They employ over 33k people..

So Adobe alone has the money for a law suite that defends themselves from an existential threat, but I would imagine a class action.. It is, IMHO, just a matter of time before these companies put it together and take their shot.

Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Sunday November 01, 2026 @11:58AM (#50327384)
My best guess is their board/investors forced them to.

In this theory, without evidence just like their db claims, they were looking for external evidence to shut it all down or force replacement of key personnel.. And Aphyr understood the assignment.

Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:11AM (#50324157)
You just need to raise 50m to crack that pesky "consistent read after write" nut!
They are absolutely going to be getting sued by major software IP and copyright holders.

Adobe and other companies have been holding back because they are also using frontier models to keep pace. Suing Anthropic means getting cut off. But now that alternatives are proving themselves..

This, to me, is why Anthropic is rushing their IPO.

I simply can't imagine a company of Adobe's size (employing over 33k people and making 24bn annual revenue) is going to sit on the sidelines while this plays out.

And they are just one company. All faced with a technology that can simply copy all their hard work and investment in product development.

Can't put the cat back in the tube
The money we are talking about.. A lot of these rights holders have more than enough cash on hand to bring a suite and potentially destroy Anthropic/OpenAI with the right case.
"Clean room" is doing a lot of heavy..

Anyway, 99.99% of "clean room" vibe coded projects are 100% NOT putting in place the proper policies and controls.

It's the wild west out there right now.

Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:30AM (#50323663)
Reads like investor cope. And the OG etcd was a disaster that needed better engineers to completely rewrite. The surviving project is an entirely different lineage.
Re:Jepsen: ParticleDB 1.1.4 on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:23AM (#50323634)
100% AI psychosis. They are all high on their own supply.

If anyone had any fucking clue they never would have engaged with Jepsen with the software in this state.

This company and everyone involved are going to have to legally change their names to have any hole at future trust.

@dang I think HN should revoke and reserve this username.

Edit: I know @dang does nothing but maybe make it more likely he sees it.

Psychosis?
Re:OpenAI raises less than half of $30B target on Sunday November 01, 2026 @02:31AM (#50323408)
That's not a logical leap I was inferring. It's a scarecrow argument you are making because I refuted:

> There is absolutely no timeline where Apple acquires any token provider because Apple doesn't sell tokens.

Apple not "selling tokens" doesn't preclude them from purchasing a company that does.

You can delete your comments, IDC. But I'm no longer responding to you so your dick will be left swinging in the breeze for all to see.

Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Saturday October 31, 2026 @10:09PM (#50322128)
Uh, with some fancy accounting..

I think most people could consider the cost as being whatever percentage of the subscription quota was used multiplied by the cost of the subscription.
