Really cool you found his QSL card on ebay! Unfortunately I don't have many ideas. Do you know if he was affiliated with a college club at some point? I did some ham-genealogy work several years ago for my old college club by searching the school's library and found a surprising amount of information. You might also search the county library system for his name or callsign. They've done a great job of digitizing and making searchable all the old microfiche etc.
I'm in the area and a ham, though not part of the club. I suggest you also get in touch with the Case club, W8EDU. Feel free to shoot me an email as well and I might be able to help me some contacts (pun intended). Email in profile for the next few hours.
That link doesn't work.

Title needs a (2008).
Ah, I see. I have a HackRF and several USRPs, so I'm kinda spoiled in terms of bandwidth and capabilities. You could try combining more than one RTLSDRs into one virtual stream using GNURadio. Check this out: http://www.rtl-sdr.com/combining-the-bandwidth-of-multiple-r... The only catch is that it is not phase coherent, but if you're doing FSK or AM then that's perfectly fine.
What? RTLSDRs go from ~$9-$20 max (I got mine for $10 on eBay), and a Raspberry pi is $35. The PandwaRF is ~$150 USD alone. Does the CC11xx series chip in this device make a difference to your use case?
I'm getting a database error. Here's the Google Cache: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:UrEvnt...

I do this using Google Apps, but I'm grandfathered into the free plan on my domain. I'm fairly sure most mail servers can do this though.
