Yes, somewhere on HN, the developer wrote that these drum machines aren't sample-based (like the original), but that all sounds are (unfortunately) generated via sound synthesis.
Re:Thunderbird for iOS on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:20AM (#50082340)
What stops you from using these multiple addresses within iOS Mail?
I wouldn't call it a voice break, more an intentional melodic variation by singing a perfect fourth higher than the expected note in falsetto. But I agree: it sounds marvelous.
Re:A chemist explains the chemistry behind decaf coffee on Sunday July 28, 2024 @07:04AM (#41092441)
Since he wrote that Coke doesn't create this effect, I guess caffeine can be ruled out?

Re:IRC Is the Only Viable Chat Protocol on Saturday July 29, 2023 @08:27AM (#36919606)
How did we solve email?
Re:IRC Is the Only Viable Chat Protocol on Saturday July 29, 2023 @08:19AM (#36919542)
Unfortunately, this only works unless you have a textfield focused or something similar that "consumes" your keyboard input. At least in my experience, it's quite unreliable.

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, the url doesn't work?!
Re:The Limits of Computational Photography on Tuesday January 31, 2023 @06:24AM (#34593810)
This.

Even when you stabilize the footage afterwards (digitally, not by stabilizing the sensor), there will be motion blur due to the lower shutter speed.

This is not how unemployment works.

Re:How to rip audio CDs 2022 – with drive accuracy listing on Monday November 07, 2022 @02:27AM (#33502342)
I think iTunes Match still offers this, too.
Sigh … I so much want Apple to get their shit together. To me it feels like software quality reached a new low.
Re:Darling: The macOS virtual emulation layer for Linux on Tuesday October 11, 2022 @12:45AM (#33159617)
> Please note that most GUI applications will not run at the moment.

I really appreciate the effort that already went I to this, but I also find it hard to see the usefulness of such a tool if the core functionality just isn’t there yet.

Re:Applying a rule from Pixar with a camera from 1961 on Monday August 22, 2022 @12:55AM (#32547528)
> While watching her, he realised the pictures would be out of focus because of the settings. He then decided to design a camera that won't let you make a mistake. This camera is the Olympus Pen ee series.

I’m a bit surprised that the author doesn’t explain how the camera prevents out of focus photos (but mentions the auto exposure feature instead).

Re:Ilias: Readable aliases for core Ruby methods on Tuesday May 31, 2022 @11:31PM (#31577731)
Why do you have to memorize both?
I’m confused, since you mentioned a two-line-solution. Was it a library then?
> I asked them to create a library for solving quadratic equations.

To me, this reads like a requirement, can you really blame them for respecting what you asked for?

Re:I am creating a better FreeCodeCamp on Saturday September 04, 2021 @03:43AM (#28412985)
Shouldn't it say "a better FreeCodeCamp"?
Re:Is Gmail scanning your emails? Let's find out on Friday August 27, 2021 @04:17AM (#28325467)
I just skipped through the video and find that just because the hyperlinks in his mails weren't visited by Google, it is plain wrong to derive that "Google is not scanning your mails" …
Re:why you visit Hacker News on Monday August 23, 2021 @02:07AM (#28272745)
I'm interested in IT news and love to read the comments to get a feeling for the many different perspectives, pro and cons and experiences from insiders who worked with certain technologies. It feels genuine.
Well, I guess there is more to being a hacker than just having programming experience.

I understand that the post is more than its title, but I couldn’t resist and got triggered by it.

For me, it’s about being curious, not taking any technical solution for granted and having the inner need and energy to explore, to experiment, to be skeptical and feeling the drive to improve things …
