You are welcome to use vanilla frameworks for a generic looking site. This is clearly intended as a thematic look.
Re:I Ended Up with Just 0.15% of My Own Startup on Saturday February 17, 2024 @11:16AM (#39410753)
How does the story end? Is the company worth anything today?

He can't even afford to buy the NBA and NFL. What a loser.
Re:Why I believe the US has herd immunity in some states on Wednesday August 19, 2020 @11:15PM (#24219505)
New Yorkers are only interacting outside, where there is airflow constant supply of fresh air.

Same with the beaches you photo'd.

People in NY/NJ are NOT hanging out together inside. They're not in schools, not in offices, etc.

So YES, they are being more careful.

That pool isn't in the video.

They hypothetically treat drivers better and have better relationships with them.
Re:JAB Code – A high-capacity 2D color bar code on Tuesday November 20, 2018 @12:52PM (#18495852)
What's the capacity of this thing? Don't see it anywhere obvious.
Re:Why Standing Desks Are Overrated on Monday November 19, 2018 @03:49PM (#18489648)
Sitting shortens your hip flexors over time. This causes lower back pain.
Re:Show HN: A JavaScript Handbook on Monday November 12, 2018 @12:07PM (#18433840)
This looks pretty legit. Seems like a good "If you know how to code this is where JS is at right now."

Source: I call myself a "Front End Engineer".

I'm sure at the very least some of the sorts are incorrect and will brick your browser tab from an infinite loop or something.
Comics are doing this as well (Dave Chapelle, Joe Rogan, etc).

Wholly supported.

Wait that "Quartz" monstrosity is still around?
Re:The FCC just killed net neutrality on Thursday December 14, 2017 @01:29PM (#15925049)
Please push Congress to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to stop the FCC order.

Do whatever you can.

Re:Ditch JS For loops on Tuesday December 12, 2017 @01:22PM (#15908024)
Cool story... until you want to BREAK out of the loop.
Are there any tools we should download before half the internet is blocked?

(Can't believe I had to just write that).

Re:Nasdaq Plans to Introduce Bitcoin Futures on Wednesday November 29, 2017 @04:54PM (#15811215)
For the record Coinbase is adding 100k users a day. So people need to dial down the expectations...
Re:The Best Monitor for Programming: A Cheap 40" 4K TV on Monday November 27, 2017 @10:24AM (#15787983)
Yep got one too - refurb (buydig via ebay) for $799.

Plays nice with my PC and 2015 macbook pro.

Very happy.

I use it for internal admin type apps. Can't really show to it you though sorry.

It is pretty damn thorough tho and the css is relatively minimal if you need to custom skin the components.

Yes I would recommend it highly. Just look through the components they have mostly everything covered.

Re:Amazon recalls eclipse glasses on Monday August 14, 2017 @02:46PM (#15011349)
OK.. I just assumed it was the same at staring at the sun... except without the blinding light that normally forces you to look away due to pain.

On further research looks like something about your eye having a specific point to focus on which gets damaged immediately.

Thanks.

Re:Amazon recalls eclipse glasses on Monday August 14, 2017 @10:54AM (#15009007)
So how long can I safely look at the eclipse WITHOUT glasses.

Can I take like 5 second glances?

Is there some minimum rest period between them?

(I ordered glasses but will assume they are fake).

Yeah except that email to that affect only went out July 27 @ 11pm EST.

So for Coinbase customers not tracking the fork news, this was a total blindside. This gives you 3 days to get all your coins out?

Not to mention if you used the "Coinbase Vault" your coins are subject to a 48 hour holding period before you can them into a usable Wallet. Then you have to wait for what was at some points an 8 hour transaction delay?

Also you need to figure out how securely set up a wallet, potentially order wallet hardware, etc.

No court would say that was sufficient notice.

What do you think the exchanges will do here (aka Coinbase) [Yes I know you should pull all your BTC off...].

If there is a hard fork, are they just going to wait until the dust settles and then give people access to both coins? I.E. BCC would magically appear in your account. Or do they seriously intend to not support one of the chains and just have all their users holding BTC worth X% less?

Re:Dell 38 inch UltraSharp monitor on Monday July 24, 2017 @12:19PM (#14839749)
I'm pretty sure the 38" Acer ultrawide is cooler - same resolution, better refresh rate, $1200.

My person & abritrary list of companies I consider to be 'above' the Big 4:

Stripe

Two Sigma

SpaceX

Maybe AirBnb & Netflix?

ZocDoc?
Re:TypeScript 2.4 on Tuesday June 27, 2017 @03:19PM (#14648415)
Won't we stop transpiling everything once ES6 support (& modules) are ubiquitous?

I kind of feel like this is when everybody converted codebases to CoffeeScript and are now stuck with having to undo that...

Yes, I get strong typing has merits - but so does writing the native language.

Re:Why Bitcoin Isn't Worth More Than Gold on Monday May 15, 2017 @01:35AM (#14339377)
My takeaway is 1 BTC will eventually worth $347,000. :)
