Re:Ask HN: What LaTeX editor do you use? on Friday August 26, 2022 @05:03AM (#32604888)
This is unorthodox, but I use https://www.overleaf.com/ its a neat online editor where I can have my docs stored on the cloud and it has a PDF preview on the side, and you can compile it at the end.
The other way around is scratch the weather proof, and just encase it in something weatherproof.
Re:Ask HN: What do you do with your Raspberry Pi? on Monday February 14, 2022 @05:05AM (#30330244)
Use it as a SPI programmer with flashrom, to flash bios mostly.
Re:Ask HN: Monitor a Tennis Court from a Webpage on Tuesday January 04, 2022 @04:06AM (#29792812)
LoRa fits the low power and its also long range. I have never sent images over it but for sure its possible but unreliable, as its very low bandwith.

I would do some kind of computer vision to identify people, or count them and send that data instead, those operations should be easy on a microcontroller.

There are balisongs that are a comb instead of a blade, or trainers.

That said, I too wanted one in my teens, the problem was that I didn't ask for it, I just bought it, and alot of them.

I agree with the NUCs, a good compromise ive found is the Lattepanda Delta or Alpha.

I don't have a Pi 400 but I have a similar cyberdeck that has the addition of a screen with the keyboard and board. I use it as a swiss army tool on the go for managing my cloud servers. Its like the classic monitor and keyboard you have hanging on top of your rack, but portable :D

Re:Ask HN: Config settings by many OS distro on Monday July 26, 2021 @10:20AM (#27959654)
Didn't know such thing existed! Ill hang in here in case someone knows.
I think I had the case with jet2, where support for a change of a cancelled flight required my CVV, I called them and told them that I am not willing to provide that information and they should figure out something else. They instantly replied that I can input anything on that form and that it didn't matter and so was it.
Re:Ask HN: Tools for Remote Pair Programming? on Thursday June 10, 2021 @04:34AM (#27458374)
Check if your IDE marketplace have plugins for that. For example PyCharm has CodeWithMe which is pretty neat.

What to learn next? Interpersonal skills!
Re:Ask HN: What are you currently working on? on Thursday February 06, 2020 @07:19AM (#22255468)
I am making a virtual keyboard widget in for Qt projects that will be dynamically built and initialized by just a json.

It will have different layouts and they will be set by the json, so basically the user only needs to supply a well structured json and boom! you have a virtual keyboard for any app.

Re:Ask HN: Is anybody skilled in lockpicking? on Friday July 20, 2018 @07:29AM (#17574102)
I won´t define myself as skilled because I am not a profesional, there are people that get paid for that.

Out of curiosity I learned myself playing with locks, its a matter of practice and feel.

If you want to go deep into it they sell transparent training locks so you can see the springs.

The best purpose was impressing friends and also emergency situations that I needed to unlock something that im allowed to (mine or friends).

Also depends on the ToS of each page, and their robots.txt should allow or disallow crawling

Re:How do I make an iOS application without Mac and Xcode? on Tuesday March 20, 2018 @07:23AM (#16627550)
I believe with kivy you can do some stuff with python.

https://kivy.org/#home

"Kivy runs on Linux, Windows, OS X, Android, iOS, and Raspberry Pi. You can run the same code on all supported platforms.

It can natively use most inputs, protocols and devices including WM_Touch, WM_Pen, Mac OS X Trackpad and Magic Mouse, Mtdev, Linux Kernel HID, TUIO. A multi-touch mouse simulator is included."

Re:Ask HN: What do you wear to work? on Thursday February 08, 2018 @04:04AM (#16331025)
I wear a shirt and pants, while everyone wears jeans and t-shirts.

We don´t have a specified dress code and they once told me: you know, you dont have to come like this.

My response was, this is my trademark. If a customer comes he will have a good impression. You know what they say, if you want to reach something act and dress as if you are there already.

You are a proffesional, dress like a proffesional.

Re:Ask HN: Which Linux distribution do you use, and why? on Tuesday February 06, 2018 @03:55AM (#16315134)
Debian is one of the best choices
Re:Ask HN: Which Linux distribution do you use, and why? on Tuesday February 06, 2018 @03:54AM (#16315132)
Sabayon Linux, active community, you get both binary packages (from sabayon repos) and you can compile gentoo packages from portage, because sabayon is built on top of gentoo.
