America has the most progressive tax system in the world. There is no other country where the ultra rich pay such percentage of the tax burden. Fuck off with this "Left in the US is center in Europe" bullshit. The EU wishes they were as left as us in a lot of areas.
edit: Because this is HN and a lot of you are learning this for the first time:
US: $60k salary leads to $50k take home pay, then a less than 10% sales tax
Denmark: $60k salary leads to $38k take home pay, then a 25% sales tax
All that money you're losing in Denmark is paying for you shittier healthcare.
Welcome to a small taste of being outside your echo chamber.
I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. You seem to be saying the "free speech absolutists" getting upset about censorship in the EU is a bad thing. While, at the same time, saying them
not getting upset about this is a bad thing.
In criticizing their inconsistencies, you are highlighting and simultaneously missing your own inconsistencies.
The motivation is that they keep getting away with it. And they're going to keep getting away with it until society decides we're going to stop tolerating shit like that.
https://imgur.com/a/60GrJ0iDid even better from the front. What's surprising is that it used the exact same colors as the simonw example, despite my prompt only being
> Generate an SVG of a ring-tailed lemur riding an electric scooter. Front view

We're just going to ignore the open communists that are infiltrating the other party? You sound intellectually honest.
Awesome. Let's all start using this on HN so we end up with a bunch of broken links in a few years
Only the people who can't make eye contact with others interpreted your comment as hostile. Unfortunately, that describes a high number of people on this site.
Only 70 years? If that's the case, why isn't it solved yet? Just rent 4,000 computers and have it done in less than a week.
How do you have better odds at a casino? Is the cut Kalshi takes so big that it makes the odds bad for both sides?
Just to make sure I'm understanding, you're saying that Google payed someone (presumably Trump), who then went and convinced a Clinton appointed judge who has ruled against Trump in the past to give the case to Google?
Is that actually what you think?
On the contrary, you and Anthropic are being disingenuous by pretending that a usage reduction is actually an increase. Especially when the 20x max plan isn't actually anywhere near 20x, as people have recently realized.
> Polls show the population regrets Brexit
57%?
Sorry, but a poll of 57% is a tossup. And could even swings the other way when you factor in closet brexiters/trumpers/etc in polls like these
And I'm sure all of you people crying shared this same concern when it was Twitter. I'm sure you can bring receipts of you crying about it back then too.
That is the point. It's a way to get the value of a service you don't like, while signaling to everyone that you're too virtuous to use the service you're getting value out of.
It reminds me of that "stone soup" story.
1. I can make turn a stone and water into a delicious soup
"17 year olds, learn to build an LLM from scratch"
2. This soup would be more delicious if we add a few carrots. Does anyone have carrots
"Increase your chance of success by getting a Masters degree"
3. How about potatoes?
"And get a PHD"
4. What about some salt?
"And publish some peer reviewed articles in {journals_list}
5. We should also add beef
"Now work in the industry for 10 years"
6. See, this soup is delicious, and I made it all with a stone
"See, you're rich, and it's all because you learned LLMs as a 17 year old"
Maybe you use AI differently than me
I ditched Claude Code $200/month a couple of months ago in favor of Codex $200/month. The value is night and day.
1. No 5 hour usage limit
2. Weekly usage gets reset CONSTANTLY. It's crazy. The longest I've ever seen it go without a reset is maybe 5 days?
3. I don't feel like OpenAI is constantly trying to fuck with me. Unlike Anthropic. I would way rather have Sol all day every data, consistently, than a slightly better Fable for like, 1 prompt every 5 hours, and only when Anthropic decides to not treat me like a cyber criminal. Believe in yourself as much as Claude believes your CRUD app is going to hack the pentagon.
4. Getting access to image generation, though I don't use it too much, is a nice perk compared to Anthropic.
edit: Should mention that I had like 4 banked manual resets as well. It feels like OpenAI wants me to use their product, whereas Anthropic wants my money while giving me a nerfed experience
Just about everyone on HN should hate restrictions like these. Yet the second an
American company tries to offer fewer restrictions on a model, the masses (including HN users) beg for them, and try to crucify the person attempting to offer non-nerfed tools.
I think society has rejected the concept of personal responsibility in favor of restricted freedoms. Thus, the restrictions will continue and get worse.
Friday night email? Are they ashamed to announce this or excited?
K dad. Sorry you're feeling left out.
The link given was to a blog post from the US army. Good try though.
Why do you want the people risking their lives to protect your freedom to have worse artillery? I don't understand this thinking at all. If my country is going to shoot something, I want them to be able to control what actually gets hit. I swear, people take borderline religious stances on things to the point that they no longer make sense.
Nope. Apple wants to maximize profits. They clearly make more at lower prices. Source: the fact that they had lower prices until they were forced to increase them. They will be hoping to return to a more optimal price point as soon as they can.
Good god. There is that hacker spirit. Who hurt you?
Yes, Snapchat does this. Apps absolutely have the ability to know when a screenshot is taken.
Not sure why you think anyone is suggesting that non-occluding watermarks are a gripe people have with X.
GP is saying that BS gets a pass where X would not for a user hostile action.
The amount that OpenAI resets their quotas is nuts. It's like, every 2 days I swear. Feels so fucking good. Whenever I think about switching my $200 plan back to Claude for a month I'm reminded that they still have a 5 hour usage limit, which feels so absurd now that I've used Codex for a couple of months.
Sounds like we're in agreement that a layoff can be done just fine and humanely in a group setting over Zoom.
There is nothing inhumane about announcing layoffs over Zoom though. Hell I'd prefer to be laid off in the least personal way possible because I'm a grown-ass adult who doesn't need my company to treat my like a child. Tell me and get it over with.
Sounds like you've decided what you'd like to believe
