Drum machines are instruments. Even if sequenced, drum machines are live instruments and they require skill. It requires time to master. It's not only "programmed loop".
When I play the drum machine, I program it live. I never play the same thing twice. It IS a performance. It applies for both vintage drum machines (such as E-mu drumulator or tr808) and new gen ones or grooveboxes (such as Electribes or Octatracks).

That's great to read. I've used Windows for years for music production and recording, due to lot's of audio interfaces which performed best on Windows than on Mac and Linux.
In lot's of recording studio I went, they almost always have Windows with Cubase in a case of something wrong with Mac and Pro Tools.

I help lot's of immigrants in France. I'm always told that France is very generous and that it's easy to have healthcare, easy to go to a doctor for free.
Yet, in my experience, it's horribly difficult and expensive.

Yes, a union is a way to gather forces, not only in your company, but also in broader spaces. It's easier for a union (even of two) to ask to meet your local elected officials, to seek legal support, advices from other union.
If you make electronic music using only virtual instruments and effects, it's ok.
But if you play live, record live bands with lot's of mics and need to use physical hardware. Neither Mac nor Linux are an option.
