Perhaps this - at last - leads to people only submit personal data to websites who have their data encrypted in their database and a certified to have done that.

Beside chastity belts my favorite is the myth of the flat earth.

All the HR people I've met in large companies are nice people who care, but when push comes to shove they side with the company/CEO as HR is a CEO support function - sadly.
As if Jeff is reading [email protected] - would be the first enterprise CEO I know who reads his mail instead of a web of (personal) assistants.

The installer is a strong indication of this behavior.

Yes, because it manipulates the system in some way beyond copying the app to app, it's often hard to deinstall without traces, hard to keep two versions side by side etc.

So if the pain of the installer is larger than the added benefit of using Opera vs. Chrome, then yes.

Trying Opera now, turned off after 5sec b/c it uses an 'installer' in OS X instead of drag&drop to apps.

I'm open to everything that is proven by trials.

Everything else is opinion.

Re:Frege: A Haskell-Like Language for the JVM on Friday August 14, 2015 @02:24AM (#10058891)
What helps most beginners with Monads etc. is seeing it from a problem perspective: You have two things and want to combine them to get a third thing. Depending on how these things are 'wrapped' you need different concepts:

  Monoid: A + B (|+|)
  Functor: M[A] => (A => B) => M[B]
  Monad: M[A] => (A => M[B]) => M[B]
  Applicative: M[A] => M[A=>B] => M[B]
  Kleisli: (A => M[B]) => (B => M[C]) => (A => M[C])

Monads, Monoids, Applicatives, all very simple things. Most people make it seem difficult just to show off and feel as part of an elite. Which is a shame as it prevents wider usage.

James is one of the few people who don't make Monads into a mythical being.
