Bravo! I cannot tell if this is a satire of something. Can some explain the joke, if any?

Why is this so wide? It's barely usable.
I do not know if this is or is not a joke.

I'm guessing this is your work?

Re:Dwarf Fortress has sold half a million copies on Friday January 06, 2023 @02:20PM (#34279509)
It has not yet been addressed to my knowledge, but I'm hoping that with an additional developer on board, it will come more quickly even if it's not a top priority.

Are you certain? I've played the classic version for ten years and the Steam release has completely different hotkeys, and is missing keyboard control for some tasks entirely.

If you're using the Lazy Newb Pack, type "autolabor enable" into the dfhack window, you'll never have to think about it again. If you need to restrict jobs to the experts, there are easier ways to do it. For example, you create a crafting station that only your expert stonecrafters can use, then send all of your stonecrafting jobs to that single workstation.

Endlessly fiddling with Dwarf Therapist is not a rewarding use of anyone's time.

I think they're adding a similar feature to the premium release.

I sure do! I have hundreds of saved pocket articles that I'm too impatient to devote 20 minutes to reading. It's far more immediately gratifying to skim something for a minute and move on to the next factlet.
Re:Uranus should be NASA’s top planetary target – report on Wednesday April 20, 2022 @02:42PM (#31101173)
What does "qui" mean? Is this a placeholder word for something else, like, "the Jews?"
Re:Dwarf Fortress Steam Updates – Release Roadmap on Thursday February 24, 2022 @02:11PM (#30458873)
You can do it quite easily without Therapist by typing "enable autolabor" into your dfhack console window. All job assignments basically get turned on for every dwarf.

Origin is a pile ... how could the replacement possibly be worse?!
Re:Tell HN: I let my 6-year-old daughter design my website on Tuesday February 15, 2022 @12:57PM (#30350143)
This looks exactly like a site out of Hypnospace Outlaw, an video game where you moderate websites in an alternate 1990s where mind-reading technology exists.
Neat! I didn't know that it had cameras pointed at itself until now.
I tip my fedora to you, good sir.
Re:2006: Dwarf Fortress on Thursday September 23, 2021 @10:13AM (#28629444)
That was fixed ages ago, but still exists as a running inside joke.
Re:Twitter starts to require login to view tweets on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @02:06PM (#28292684)
Considering how difficult is to follow lengthy posts that are split up in reverse chronological order, and how unintuitive it is to find replies, I surely disagree. The medium is very poor for centralized discussion of a single topic, in contrast to something like a single Reddit or HN article.
Re:Kid Pix as a JavaScript App on Thursday August 05, 2021 @01:30PM (#28076859)
what is the legality of this website? I don't see anything indicating that it's an official port.

Check out this itch page for some suggestions:

Scroll down to the " Help—I’ve never created a game before!" section and there are some suggestions like Phaser or Godot.

Am I mistaken, or isn't his given name "Tarn?"
Re:How Dwarf Fortress is built on Thursday July 29, 2021 @01:32PM (#27999013)
He's lucky enough for it to be both.
It's so that it's not classified as gambling.

Honestly I just read through it like it was a cyberpunk short story. His heart is pounding as he collaborates with super-hackers all over the world in an effort to rescue some desperate person's millions. All of the jargon was totally lost on me but gave it a certain flavor.
>It had to go. We had to adapt to better things.

I'm sorry, I don't understand why. If someone develops a fun little game in Flash, and then I play it on Kongregate, what harm has been done?

Re:The Wolfram Physics Project on Tuesday April 14, 2020 @01:24PM (#22868712)
I've never heard the expression before. Could someone explain its meaning please?
Re:Dwarf Fortress: An actual look at graphical improvements on Thursday March 26, 2020 @04:21PM (#22697547)
I haven't used it, but Dwarf Fortress Remote for iOS seems to accomplish this somehow; the whole UI is iOS native.

Obviously there's no official API, but the developer has somehow managed to achieve something similar.

I've been playing for some time using dfhack's "autolabor" feature, and it streamlines things immensely.

Granted, it ends up essentially just turning on every profession for every dwarf, but it's still possible to restrict workshops to certain dwarves. For example, you might have a carpentry workshop set to produce endless amounts of wooden shields, but only allow skilled carpenters access to it.
