I agree the idea seems solid enough, but accommodating the increased complexity of scaling it up sounds quiet difficult. Out of curiosity what did you learn about your coworkers? Something about their motivations for creating such an app or what?

In my experience antivirus software is not worth the cost of system resources. AV that tries to actively mitigate threats can really bog down your system.
Definitely purge McAfee as soon as possible.
Like the others have said, as long as you don't frequent sketchy websites, you will be just fine with Windows Defender.
Also, if your Windows Defender ever detects something you may want to run an additional scan with Malwarebytes just to cover your bases.

Assuming the recommendations are links, I highly recommend Raindrop.io for managing URLs/Bookmarks. The free version has the majority of useful features, is cross-platform and web based.
An even simpler option is Standard Notes. Standard Notes has a tagging system and multiple editor types. I use it for any type of content I want to search, tag or refer to later. Although it is robust, it isn't geared specifically for bookmark management, so the experience is a little more involved. I use it for recipes, writing, bookmarks, task management and a bunch of other stuff.
