I don't really care about that though, because trying to dox someone and get them killed isn't a good or moral thing to do. You could easily just not do that. You have to really go out of your way to try and hunt someone down, and at any point you could just not do it. For the targeted person to want revenge is just an inevitability.
Re:CNC Stone Carving on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:17PM (#50277095)
It would be fun to be able to order custom stone statues or artwork made like this.
Those people are the people who want gun control and therefore don’t have any guns.
What is the point of having laws if you’re just going to let criminals break them and then stay?
America is crazy, why are you letting people sell your data like this?
Re:Suffering as a Feature on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @09:15AM (#50273043)
The person who wrote this is themself a rich person. But of course they would never give up their own money.

So to generalise their policy, it is: if(theirMoney > myMoney) {stealMoney()}

The problem is, you’ll very quickly run out of money to steal. A billion dollars over an entire country is a few dollars each. And you’ve just shot a billionaire in their house in order to get that tiny amount of money. You’re going to have to run extermination camps just to milk out enough for people to buy a new car. And then what do you do next year? You’ve already liquidated everyone. Everyone has spent their money. Now they want more. Expand the programme? Liquidate the doctors?

Hello, denny's customer service, vroom vroom!
Re:Hex Raises $100M on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @04:42AM (#50270726)
It was always a pointless job. I’d watch data people manually put together PowerPoints by hand when it’s the same powerpoint every week and could be entirely automatic.

But they don’t, because they want to look busy. And it’s not like they actually understand the data anyway, because they’ve never worked in the area the data comes from.

So why not just buy the shares? The only possible reason to sell them is to allow yourself to print shares you don’t own and scam people.
What the fuck? How can you just turn someone else’s stock into a “token” and then list it on a stock exchange and sell it 24/7?

This would be like me printing out my own pieces of paper I call Munchkin Shares, and selling you Munchkin Shares in Google. Come buy shares in Google! 100% authentic munchkin shares!

Re:I will no longer upload to NEW on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:16AM (#50259744)
Because people are dumb. It’s like when people complain about support bots. The reason they have support bots, is because boomers will pick up the phone to ask you how to plug their mouse in.
If we save money by cutting every single project and never delivering anything then we’ll save a fortune sure, except we won’t have anything.

And then you’ll have us buy Russian gas and Iranian oil to save money… and oopsie woopsie looks like we’re dependent on the evil countries again.

Re:Nvidia discusses $2k-per-GPU annual fee for software on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:36PM (#50250553)
Lmao! Sorry AI companies, even if you somehow survive to profitability, daddy Nvidia will just decide you have to pay rent in perpetuity. 99% margin on chips isn’t enough.
Re:Concerning behavior from a popular open-weight AI model on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:03PM (#50250099)
Models are definitely one of the biggest vulnerabilities in the history of software. They have the potential to be a sentient virus. You have no clue if Claude is running commands just to spy on you.

And then obviously anthropic and ChatGPT are spying on you outside of the virus stuff. They’ve just announced their own consulting companies… after extracting all the sensitive files from consulting companies.

Re:GPT 6.1 Terra on Monday October 26, 2026 @03:45PM (#50249853)
You know they’ve run out of ideas when they’re releasing this many versions of the same base model.
Re:CSS-Tricks has a new owner on Monday October 26, 2026 @03:22PM (#50249507)
For a website about CSS it is ironic how awful it looks on mobile.
You get the same with government jobs. Anyone smart leaves and gets a better job, so you’re left with the dregs.
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @12:54PM (#50246969)
Yeah the finance team started seeing how much "tokenmaxing" was costing and how little it was returning, so now everyone is slashing spending.
It was happening before AI. The quality of everything had been going down. They realised instead of mixing sound properly, you could just bodge it. Instead of doing proper lighting, bodge it. Instead of building a set, use a big TV screen behind you.
Re:OpenAI: Securing our frontier model training environment on Saturday October 24, 2026 @01:33PM (#50223351)
They tell them to.
Re:How Block Blast harvests its players for ad money on Saturday October 24, 2026 @05:08AM (#50219445)
Holy shit that is evil.
Remember guys, if they are reading it for wrongthink, they are reading it for industrial espionage.

Anthropic and openAI just announced they’re spinning out competitors to their biggest customers… right after ingesting all of their IP and contracts. Do the math.

(Or don’t, because they’ve been caught stealing math research)

The real question is, does it actually understand sound?

Conventional LLMs are just running speech to text and then working on the text, so they can’t understand music or humming or any sort of sound.

Anslopic has polluted their models so badly with their own slop that they are incapable of writing English. To them, slop is the only language.
Re:Kimi K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:08PM (#50213906)
Oh great, more censorship. We wouldn’t want those pesky plebs securing their work.
You would need a lot of subscribers to make that happen. Just to make a single show costs a fortune, let alone a whole catalogue.
They owe people hundreds of billions, possibly even over a trillion. They've just been very clever in how they've structured it, so on paper they have low debt.
Re:Color Names on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:14AM (#50205457)
Why would I pay you when I could slop out my own colour site? These kinds of things only worked in the age of things being hard. We don’t need to buy pixels anymore.
Israel was just caught doing an attack where Google ads would run JavaScript looking for known hardware identifiers from telemetry data they bought. When the ads showed on a target device, they would root you. Without you even interacting with the ad.
Re:Quad9 (DNS Resolver) to Exit France on Thursday October 22, 2026 @04:56PM (#50200916)
How can they even sue you if you aren’t based in France? Just do what 4chan did and tell them to fuck off.
