Re:Blog about things you don't understand yet

Rather than blogging about new topics, I wonder if the author has considered joining a forum. Creating a forum thread is typically simpler and less formal than a blog post. Forums are also designed for topical discussions, unlike blogs which encourage a one-way communication

The point is that you can buy a book for a few bucks, read it, and have its insights completely available to you. But people are demanding that LLM companies pay far more to publishers for the same copies

It's entirely reasonable to expect the basic functionality of document and spreadsheet editors to edit documents and spreadsheets. If an editor no longer can edit, it's no longer functional. Microsoft seems to know this which is why they removed the "continue to function" clause from their end-of-support page.
Unfortunately this kind of thing will continue since Microsoft can survive any slap on the wrist that might come their way for their sleazy practices. They've done it countless times throughout their existence. It has been paying off enough for them to keep doing it.

Have you tried a darker background but with an inverted color filter on the text? (I'd try it myself but I'm not at my computer for this post)
Re:Don't Roll Your Own
on Sunday May 24, 2026 @12:25PM (#48258603)
This feels like a modern version of people writing regex to validate email addresses: employing a complicated, yet incomplete roll-your-own approach as the wrong solution to a problem

Re:Should you leave red herrings about yourself online?
on Monday May 11, 2026 @02:46PM (#48099037)
Actually, noise is the opposite of signal. Data harvesting companies hate noise because strong signals are profitable. It's why Google successfully pushed for people to use their real identities online initially through Google Plus and why they also displayed such an unprecedented backlash against the AdNauseum browser extension after it came out

Universties usually have restricted access and a userbase of people who are more intelligent than the general population. They should have much higher hope than popular social media sites that cater to the bottom of the barrel

Huh, that's what Kiwi Farms says about the people that they talk about online too. And Cloudflare famously retaliated against them, but are retaliating against the victim in this case because Archive.today responded to the doxing in the wrong way apparently

They have full control. If you're talking about dangerous outcomes, those are reasons why parents don't give their kids things like knives or chemicals. Internet-connected devices should also warrant the same kind of caution

I'm not sure why you're being downvoted when You're just describing typical Internet behavior. How many archive or search engines have come and gone that have scraped, saved, and served data from other sources (verbatim no less) with little to no scrutiny?
