This seems like a fun project and a great way to learn Kubernetes, but if I'm dropping this much money on it, I'd like it to have some productive purpose afterwards.
I'm a full-stack web dev primarily using node/react/postgres. I've also got some projects currently hosted on a Linode instance. Ideas on fun/productive uses for this cluster after I've built it and messed around with Kubernetes?
One I just discovered recently is ctrl+shift+v to cycle through code recently copied to the clipboard.
I had one track down the phone number for my employer, call here, and ask the secretary to speak with me while refusing to say what the reason was until he spoke with me.
Sensationalist bs. It'd take some pretty impressive programming to deal with issues like road construction, missing or faded road markings, unmarked dirt roads, and potentially outdated or incorrect maps.
The extent of the technological capabilities of a device like a smartphone are far from common knowledge for the typical user. An app can allow your phone to perform the functions of a gps, why can't it allow your phone to perform the functions of a radar detector? I mean even people who know enough about their devices to know that the idea of it acting as a radar detector is unreasonable may not know what their phone IS capable of. How more technologically proficient users do you suppose are there who are completely unaware of the fact that their phone might have a barometer?
It's really worth jailbreaking it, if only for the sake of installing google play.
It also drives me crazy when they play an ad before you can watch what is effectively an ad that you chose to watch (trailers, previews, etc.)
Homophobia has not been eliminated and nearly everyone here expressing disgust has also stated that they realize their disgust is irrational.
Windows still uses the hosts file in windows 8. I did a little looking around and it looks like Windows Defender automatically removes some hosts from the file.
I kind of lost interest at that point. I'm not interested in managing another subscription for this.
Edit: It looks like it includes a hosted server. That makes more sense, but I'd prefer an option without it.
Why python? There are far more straightforward languages to learn with more beginner-friendly development environments. Seems like an unnecessarily frustrating place to begin.
If your primary use for a second display is email, then sure I guess it could just be a distraction. But when you're working with several applications at once to accomplish a single task, multiple monitors are a necessity. If you have ever spend any time at all doing data entry, it's immediately obvious how much more efficient it is.
I've been dying for a thicker phone in exchange for better battery life for quite a while now. Seems like this phone might negate a lot of that benefit with the much larger screen, but I wish more phones were willing to make that trade-off.
There's a massive difference between being harassed by a single individual who doesn't really know who you are and a massive group of people who know everything about you.
But others in this thread are acting as if he "misspoke" which clearly wasn't the case.
No it isn't. There's no reason for a complete course on this. Everything that someone needs to know about cryptocurrencies can be learned in a couple hours unless they are going to be creating their own, in which case, a single course isn't going to be in-depth enough to get them anywhere near that point. As an example exercise in class, sure, but an entire course would be nearly pointless.
Sexier than what? I work with a lot of GIS software and this is incredibly basic.
Socially stunted 30+ year-olds apparently.
That isn't an accurate summary of my comment. I'm arguing that this article isn't revealing anything unexpected about the nature of the device and is only a list of reasons why the author made a poor purchasing decision by ignoring readily available information about the device he was purchasing.
Lots of exaggeration and subsequent backtracking to bring that exaggeration back to reality. But even having not used glass already it's pretty easy to find fault with his points:
1. Eye Contact - Just don't look at glass while you're talking to people. Problem solved. Why did he begin the article with this again?
2. Not a good listener - Probably the strongest reason in the article. Not really a surprise having used voice recognition on my phone, but this will definitely cause problems.
3. Battery death - You knew this before you bought it. Everyone knew this. Google was completely open about this. Meh.
4. Too big and bulky - He complains that it's too big for a shirt pocket and then shows it inside a shirt pocket. It looks kind of silly there, but having somewhat unsightly bulges is par for the course for anyone fond of carrying gadgets around (the kind of person who'd be interested in an early version of Glass). Basically a non-issue. Also, there's no way it's too big for a purse.
5. Conspicuous - Another issue he knew from the start. There have been numerous articles on the topic and most people have come to the conclusion that other people would get used to it.
6. Tilted photos - As others have pointed out, lots of exaggeration here. It's easy enough to fix via software regardless.
7. Direction drawbacks - You need a data connection to use google's navigation services? No shit. Moving on.
8. The earbud - It's just an option on the rare occasion that you somehow need slightly better sound for glass. You already have your phone with you, why would you need to use glass to listen to music?
9. Explorer envy - That's a problem with him, not glass.
10. Too little, too soon - Yeah, he wasn't a good candidate. There's a reason it's only intended for developers hoping to get a head start at this point.
Pretty disappointing article.
Clearly the author was being facetious.
Intolerant of people who seek to use our government to oppress minorities due to their own ignorance and hatred? Definitely.
Oh right, I forgot how religious fundamentalists and extremists are universally praised for their ability to accept contradictory views and lifestyles! What a powerful argument!
We do not need to be tolerant of intolerance.
