Re:Understanding ChatGPT on Sunday March 26, 2023 @04:03PM (#35318948)
It's well known what stages kids start to solve certain reasoning tasks.

Like putting water from a tal glass in a wide one. They understand this quite late.

Just because humans have additional more/different inputs doesn't imply chargpt can't start to learn to reason like us.

It could easily be than the fine-tuning we do (thinking through things) is similar to reading a huge amount of text like chargpt does.

Don't be naive.

People were not buying crypto in mass for any other reason to make a quick dollar.

And it went that far down the rabbit hole that totally untechnical people like Logan jumped on it to with the notion of making money.

And still on TikTok and co that's how it's marketed.

In sense of buying drugs?

Yeah sure still not society relevant.

And look what happens in Germany, it's much better to push for legalization.

People need to stand up for rights

Funny enough when I discussed antivaxxer and brought up polio, no one ever corrected me and said thant they are not against vaccines but only against 'untestes'/COVID ones.
My wife is doing it with nothing more than an app for 6 years while using some hormone kit before.

I'm quite surprised how well this works but we are in a stable relationship.

With or without plan b it would not be the end of our life's if we would suddenly getting a child.

Not sure how I would see it if I would be 20 and not above 30

You remember the gas power plant in new York city which was offline and than got bought because of Bitcoin?

Pls walk me through a real example were Bitcoin makes more renewable energy net positive.

Because Bitcoin will consume ALL available energy.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Saturday March 25, 2023 @03:18PM (#35306085)
It blocks renewables.

It consumes them.

Show me a real project which actually had a energy net positive and don't show me all those garbage green washing papers from Bitcoin companies which do not proof any of this.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Saturday March 25, 2023 @03:16PM (#35306056)
Bitcoin can't physically protect or fight a country.

It's just not the same at all.

Referencing the us military instead of discussing Bitcoin and it's issues is strawmanning.

Instead of arguing about the point you talk about something different.

And as stated a few times: yes we need to discuss the energy usage of ALl things.

But on a Bitcoin topic the discussion is about Bitcoin and not the us military

Re:ChatGPT Gets Its “Wolfram Superpowers” on Saturday March 25, 2023 @04:16AM (#35300559)
Never used it.

And it was doing also routing too? Also in Germany?

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Saturday March 25, 2023 @04:15AM (#35300546)
It is because it's not about the military in this thread and you try to justify the energy usage of Bitcoin with the us military.

And I already agree that the energy consumption of the us military should also be checked and reduced.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Saturday March 25, 2023 @04:08AM (#35300522)
That's the problem not a solution.

This should incentive people to build energy storage not burn through it...

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @04:32PM (#35295032)
No. It incentives two things:

1. Consuming as much renewable/ cheap energy possible because of how mining works and consumed energy might heat houses but I have seen only ACs in this mining farms.

2. It decentivie energy usage for real use cases like humans who can't afford to compete with the GDP from some us dude who wants to get rich.

3. It also doesn't add any motivation to try to make this energy more accessible because mining will just eat it up anyway.

We don't need to burn of gas. We can regulate it and don't allow to just reap in profits without also taking care of the rest gas

It's the industry which is fucking with us.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @04:27PM (#35294971)
Bitcoin and Ethereum for quite a long time and now only Bitcoin.

Why we are not talking about the us military? Because it's a strawman argument.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @04:26PM (#35294954)
You continue to use a strawman argument.

Why?

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @08:46AM (#35288313)
The us military is probably doing slightly more like providing jobs, protecting people etc and not just money.

Independent of this as usual: of course someone should also review the energy usage of everything including the military.

We are talking here about crypto and not military

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Friday March 24, 2023 @02:43AM (#35285787)
For me it's still the 'nor getting what issue they had with k8s'.

And I would love to spend a few days with there team to understand it.

Re:I unschool my 5 kids. This is how much it costs on Friday March 24, 2023 @02:36AM (#35285750)
In my opinion parents should not just ask kids.

They should show them new things and teach them some basics.

Re:ChatGPT Gets Its “Wolfram Superpowers” on Friday March 24, 2023 @02:34AM (#35285742)
And that was the same thing as maps? Free? Global
Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @02:34AM (#35285737)
Ah yes the few rich and digital smart people who are fleeing some country.

One of the best arguments for crypto...

Just that it's as easy or hard to even exchange the local currency with crypto in the first place is probably as harder than getting us dollar or euro...

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Friday March 24, 2023 @02:32AM (#35285723)
You are strawmanning...

You don't know if I wouldn't criticize this too but it's about crypto and not your military.

Also the green washing of crypto is also dishonest. Crypto is primarily using dirty electric and we're not they actually take clean and good energy away from others because it's buying power is decoupled from the local energy market.

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Thursday March 23, 2023 @06:58PM (#35282664)
You mean garbage like this?:

"KwikTrust is airdropping a total of 3,000,000 KTX tokens plus referral rewards to our exclusive airdrop participants. Complete simple social tasks and submit your details to the below airdrop form to receive 50 KTX ($2.5) tokens. Also get 10 KTX ($0,5) for each referral. "

Oh yeah no no one gets rich of this joke...

Re:Crypto Is Mostly Over. Its Carbon Emissions Are Not on Thursday March 23, 2023 @06:55PM (#35282619)
Comparison why?

We are in a state that every emission is a problem.

And if you have a particular technology which create megatons of CO2 but does nothing for society besides transering money from a lot of people to less and less people what does a comparison matter?

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Thursday March 23, 2023 @06:00PM (#35281885)
I'm really only sharing my experience or view through my experience.

And I think it's the best thing for infra since pre cut bread.

In what issues did you run?

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Thursday March 23, 2023 @05:38PM (#35281650)
I'm not bragging.

I'm not a 'bro' and 'cringe' this is not tiktok.

It gives context.

Don't you have anything to add to the discussion?

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Thursday March 23, 2023 @05:37PM (#35281641)
Not in my case.

Every VM had 4 cores and 20gig me.

Run on quite big blades

Google maps has and had a tremendous effect to millions
Re:I unschool my 5 kids. This is how much it costs on Thursday March 23, 2023 @03:35PM (#35280140)
I saw a fun docu in Germany afrom such families.

The boy in the group just played games.

Non of them wanted to use the music instruments the parents bought.

They write the tos.

It doesn't matter if they updated them in time for someone actually reading a tos.

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Thursday March 23, 2023 @11:40AM (#35276511)
I only create my accounts adhoc because I spend too much time on discussions otherwise.

But my argument was more in sense of contradicting the original argument. No one is an expert just because.

I for myself I'm a cloud architect in a very big company and have introduced a k8s based platform in two projects. One internal on gke and one in a opensource project.

Both are used by 15-20 teams.

I also run k8s at home for fun and in a small startup.

I'm probably doing primarily k8s for 5 years and was a software engineer before.

Re:De-cloud and de-K8s – Bringing our apps back home on Thursday March 23, 2023 @11:34AM (#35276407)
Sry I'm not getting your point.

If I understand it right: VMS were not there because people needed VMS they were there because people needed compute.

We moved everything to k8s and we were able to do this because k8s can
