Can I ask what you mean by “useful visual clues”?
100/74,000 = 0.00135 or 0.135%
Re:Mistral Small 3.1 on Monday March 17, 2025 @05:53PM (#43393103)
I love this size for my 64GB MacBook Pro. I’ve been going back and forth between Mistral Small and Gemma 3. I love how quick this model is.
Re:US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s on Sunday March 09, 2025 @02:45PM (#43312299)
Assuming that does happen, it won’t be “in a few months”. At best, this is a timeline measured in years if not decades.

I applied at a company called WattTime a few years ago. I didn’t get the job but their work involved some of that. It sounded really interesting.

Sometimes there is a theory, but it’s also possible for a drug to help in other (unrelated) ways as well.
Re:Gemini 2.0: our new AI model for the agentic era on Wednesday December 11, 2024 @05:18PM (#42393653)
I’ve been using Gemini 1.5 Pro for coding and it’s been great.
Re:M4 MacBook Pro on Wednesday October 30, 2024 @12:03PM (#41996695)
It looks like the 14 core M4 Max only allows 36GB of ram. The M4 Pro allows for up to 48GB. It's a bit confusing.
Re:New iMac with M4 on Tuesday October 29, 2024 @02:44PM (#41987975)
Isn't that the same with Windows? I haven't used Windows as my main OS in a couple years, but all my games were on Steam.
Re:AWS Is Asleep at the Lambda Wheel on Thursday March 02, 2023 @11:20PM (#35005770)
It would be a case against server less if Lambda were the only option. You’re always free to setup your own container which would still give you control over all of that.

Chromecast, Android Auto, Wear OS

I'd personally give Google Colab an honorable mention since it seems like the go to notebook for sharing ML research/projects.

Android? Chromebook?

I think that is till better than ChatGPT's answer which was:

"The fastest recorded time for crossing the English Channel entirely on foot (without the aid of swimming or any other means of transportation) is 16 hours and 34 minutes, achieved by British endurance athlete Damian Hall in August 2021."

So, it seems like it made up an answer instead, which I think is much worse that Googles response.

Re:Google Is Screwed, Even If It Wins Its Antitrust Case on Friday January 27, 2023 @12:36AM (#34542887)
I really don’t think it would. Google is already number #1 in search. OpenAI is quoting a ~$40 price per month for ChatGPT Pro right? That’s not an insignificant cost for 99% of the population. I don’t see how it makes sense for Google to release something until they actually need to.
As a meat eater, I hope this succeeds because I think doing without the whole factory farming stuff would be pretty cool.
Re:Morgan Stanley cut about 1600(2%) of global staff on Tuesday December 06, 2022 @06:04PM (#33888353)
I just wanted to say that I appreciate that the headline included the overall % instead of just having a contextless number.
Re:Meta shareholders vent anger at Zuckerberg’s spending binge on Thursday November 24, 2022 @01:34PM (#33734725)
> I have never been able to afford any VR and so what I think is the bubble of wealthy people who work on VR like FB are just completely disconnected with the general populations reality of not being able to afford the equipment.

Facebook is one of the main companies that is working on making the equipment affordable. It’s too bad that it’s out of your price range buy it looks like Facebook is working on making this a computer replacement. Their tech is cutting edge technology so imo the $350 they charge seems reasonable.

Any plans for integrating with Asana?
That’s exactly what I think of as inbox as well. As a (I’ll admit, ugly) workaround, is there someway to have the default date set sometime in the far future?

I guess I’m just wondering if that’s technically possible since this app does look very nice, aside from your main feedback.

Re:Evidence-based conclusions about ADHD on Wednesday October 12, 2022 @03:36PM (#33181948)
> I remain highly skeptical that there is a common neurological physical pathology in children that is treatable by a steady lifetime use of amphetamines and amphetamine derivatives.

I would argue that even if the effects diminish over time (and it’s true, they do), the benefit of being able to focus in class in those early formative years will pay dividends down the line. Being able to pay attention means you don’t have to play catch-up in math/English/etc later in life. The knowledge you gain in those years doesn’t go away once you stop taking meds.

I’m just speaking as someone who didn’t get diagnosed until I was in my late 20’s. Getting diagnosed and prescribed meds was truly life changing and it’s frustrating thinking back and knowing school didn’t have to be so difficult.

Re:Evidence-based conclusions about ADHD on Wednesday October 12, 2022 @03:25PM (#33181788)
Getting meds at the pharmacy (even after getting a prescription) can be a pain. I’ve run into issues where I’ll have a prescription, but the pharmacy that it’s sent to is out of stock. But pharmacy’s aren’t allowed to disclose stock of controlled substances over the phone, so I have to call my Dr to ask them to transfer the prescription to a different pharmacy, hoping that it’s not out of stock. If it is, I have to do that all over again. It’s annoying to say the least.
Re:Evidence-based conclusions about ADHD on Wednesday October 12, 2022 @03:17PM (#33181686)
Getting prescribed meds was the single biggest game changer so that makes sense to me…though I guess everyone is different.

Re:Why workers just won’t stop quitting on Monday August 22, 2022 @10:09PM (#32559766)
That’s the situation I found myself in this year. Thankfully finding a new job was pretty easy.
Re:Why workers just won’t stop quitting on Monday August 22, 2022 @10:04PM (#32559730)
It’s not just quitting. It’s quitting after finding a better opportunity. And there are lots of opportunities right now.
Re:Google IoT Core will be discontinued on Aug. 16, 2023 on Monday August 15, 2022 @07:59PM (#32477379)
Wait what? That’s like the opposite of what everyone here says. Like, Google has a bad reputation for doing this.
Re:Ask HN: Exercises to think, then speak, more clearly? on Thursday August 11, 2022 @11:33AM (#32427284)
That’s awesome. I have a slightly similar story.

Some class in college had us do debates taking a side on some legislation that was being discussed in congress. I had just given my argument and the other side came up to ask me questions (like a cross examination).

One of the questions ended up being what I’d consider a gotcha question (though really I should have known the answer). They asked me what the bills name stood for (it was one of those crazy acronyms they like to use). I honestly don’t think I made it a point to remember that because it was a silly name, so I almost froze for a bit. But instead I answered by explaining the “moral implications” of “what the bill stood for”. I think the professor liked that because I wasn’t deducted any points.

Also, I wouldn’t take any credit for thinking on my feet because I’m pretty sure I simply misunderstood the question at the time lmao

But this is related to GitLab…
Re:Kanye West's Stem Player – An engineering disaster on Saturday August 06, 2022 @12:49AM (#32364912)
That’s not what happened here. Kanye essentially worked with an engineering company that specializes in these kinds of products.
Re:U.S. Gas Prices Have Fallen for 50 Straight Days on Wednesday August 03, 2022 @10:27PM (#32338648)
Your own source says you are wrong. The price of a gallon of gas has dropped by almost a dollar according to the article in this post.

Your own link says: “As shown in the table above, our analysis suggests that President Biden’s historic SPR release, in coordination with IEA partners, lowered the price of gasoline by 17 cents to 42 cents per gallon, with an alternate approach suggesting a point estimate of 38 cents per gallon.”

So, even their most generous estimate doesn’t support what you are saying. And that’s assuming that the price of gas wont drop any further (it will).
