I'm sure it's not nothing, but to what extent does it matter that Alphabet is headquartered in the US? Deepmind seems to still be based in Kings Cross - and London benefits.

I recall the state of Indiana was banning dedicated bus lanes.
Many of the impositions come from the county and state level.

I agree excluding the HTML, CSS and Javascript bit. Lots of great engineers out there that don't ever deal in this bit of software.

Funny that you mention American bacon as having a good meat content as I've only ever seen streaky bacon in the states, which tends to be very fatty. I wouldn't even know where to buy back bacon in the midwest.

I have two, US and IE. The US passport is only used at the US border (per law). Not many countries have a problem with the Irish.

I'm not a fan of unusual sizes and colours. That said, printing on a decent linen paper (on the correct side!) has helped me.

I chose to travel around Europe for a few months after school and then bothered looking for a job, so I guess by this metric I was unemployed.
In the end I left Kansas for a job in London, a much better choice for me than being employed at graduation.

There is an order of magnitude between the population of Austin and NYC. Perhaps comparing Austin with a similar sized city, Columbus for example, would be a better comparison.

Almost everyone I work with in London has had a bike stolen (or a least a wheel or two), and everyone I know who owns a bike also has insurance. Not great evidence, but I'm not sure theft is any lower.

The corporate tax rate is progressive, barely. Making it more progressive is also and option. 75.000 - 10.000.000 is taxed at 34%, adding some granularity would help.

I believe high school students who take college courses can be a great asset for their high school for this very reason.
As a junior in high school I took college algebra at a community college in the evenings. As a result of the conversations with my math teacher, she made many changes to the subjects she covered in her pre-calc and algebra 2 classes.

As a senior in CS and math, I completely agree. Calc II, III, elementary differential equations, and matrix theory classes are about 85% engineers at my university. As such, theory was not the focus. All I had to do to get an A was learn an algorithm and apply it. Most of my friends in CS seem to think that higher level math courses are the same and if that is the general assumption I don't blame people for not pursuing math degrees.

I worked as an intern over the summer at a small startup and had an hour long lunch break. While the other interns would eat out and be gone for an entire time, I would eat the lunch I brought and take a 30-40 minute nap each day. I slept at my desk, right in front of my boss.
I was away from work for an hour, like everyone else, only I would be much more productive after the lunch hour. My boss was amused by my behavior.
