And nobody gives a fuck at work anymore.

Directives want results, positive numbers and growth. How well done is and the queality of the product is something trivial.

Until february/april I was super dead serious about the quality of my apps and my code, I was super strict and always looking for excellence and quality. But people were delivering shit faster than me and someone who doesnt give a fuck about anything of this just got promoted. So now i just let opencode do my work while I watch and play dota in the background. I deliver faster and nobody has ever talked about quality of my code or the ellegance of it.

I still programming by hand in my personal projects, but in corporative projects? Fuck it, i'll let the llm do my job until it lasts and Ill watch the world burn.

Then rewrite the title and call it "learn how to do a non usable llm from scratch"
Re:The Beauty of Bonsai Styles on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @03:13AM (#47845533)
Yep. It's supposed to be an entry level one. Ligustrum sinensis. In my old house had like 8 hours of direct sun and right now it only has like 2... I don't know what to do anymore.
Re:The Beauty of Bonsai Styles on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @02:13AM (#47845191)
My colleagues gave me a bonsai when I left the company. I loved it and it was georgeous. When I switched to my actual house, the bonsai felt it and started to dry out. I could not stop it, and even transplanting it to better soil and placing him in another room. It never went up. Right now I don't know if its alive anymore, and makes me very sad.
Re:Show HN: enveil – hide your .env secrets from prAIng eyes on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @07:01AM (#47136061)
Usually, some people change their .env files in the root of the project to inject the credentials into the code. Those .env files have the credentials in plain text. This is "safe" since .gitignore ignores that file, but sometimes it doesn't (user error) and we've seen tons of leaks because of that. Those are the variables and files the llms are accessing and leaking now.

This is my own microblog I try to mantain. But, as a person that never had a blog or a diary, it's hard to type things you really want to talk about.

How and why did it implode? I always have a feeling of wanting to go back to basic chat rooms for linux and all but today it´s more like a chore than anything else.
Re:We accidentally built the wrong internet on Monday August 18, 2025 @05:49AM (#44938899)
The internet is built the wrong way, using emails and passwords, users and recovery links. Here is the solution, an app that uses your email and uses a password to create a user name but has no recovery link. That's the advantage.
> These incentive structures now give tools for mediocre bullshitters to bullshit their way through and indirectly promote proliferation of these tools.

This scares me a lot. I'm a software consultant and I see my software and solutions being appropriated by bullshitters from inside the company. I don't know what to expect from the future anymore.

Re:I Do Not Remember My Life and It's Fine on Friday June 06, 2025 @03:39AM (#44198638)
What nobody says is that, face blindness is a protection mechanism from our brain for protecting ourselves from losing our minds. When you see your friends growing up and don't remember when you were kids, or when you see the kids at school and you think 'they are younger than I were when I was in there', that's your brain using this mechanism. Forgiving all the faces that we had back then, so we don't feel so much like growing and getting old. That's why your family will always look like they are right now, and you need to make an effort to remember them when you were kids, and remember them in their kid form.
Re:Remarks on AI from NZ on Tuesday May 20, 2025 @03:58AM (#44038960)
It's not about being rich or not, it's about working hard to have a simple life. If you take a look into all those people who are not having kids, usually is because their work and balance in life needs to be like that. If you have a kid, it will lag your career and probably will stop the way you make more money each year, by growing up or scaling up in your company.
Re:You're Worshipping Your Phone on Monday May 19, 2025 @10:07AM (#44030099)
Talking about something being worshiped as a religion but not talking about how it alienates you, then makes me wonder that he does not understand religion as is, and he does not read a lot about religions.

Sometimes, putting long words together doesn't make you right about a topic that you really want to fancy talk about.

Sadly, to reach interstellar travel and galactic survival we need to past this capitalism era. There is no advance into those topics without reaching "found without economic compensation". There is a mod that finds economic value in space with some random iron satellites and all... but it's final target has some bugs.
Re:I maintain a 17 year old ThinkPad on Thursday April 03, 2025 @02:54AM (#43565769)
As a 13 owner (only thinkpad 13, nobody talks about it but I think is one of the best pieces of hardware I have ever owned) this would be fantastic. I would love to have my 13 for life. I don't know if my 13 is able to be upgraded like a desktop PC like other thinkpads, but adding a carbon fiber chassis would be like fresh air.
Re:An AI bubble threatens Silicon Valley, and all of us on Tuesday March 25, 2025 @02:43PM (#43474446)
Of course is totally different this time. We are solving a lot of problems right now with llms, and pushing forward a lot of stagnant areas like in computer vision.

So, yeah, this time is different. The chat bots are just the tip of the iceberg

I don't have any specific book on the topic. But you can find homeostasis in almost any scientific medical book. From 'principles of internal medicine', 'acquiring gnomes' or even the magnificent Sapolsky's 'why zebras dont get ulcers'. They all have chapters about homeostasis and the principles of balance in everything.
This has been discussed in competitive videogames too. Usually people think that playing more and more is better, when actually having some days without playing is the best way to improve yourself.
In the first year or psychology you learn a lot of words and scientifical language. One of those words you learn is the "homeostasis". Which means the balance between highs and lows and how crucial is for a healthy life. You can study it in basic conditioning (a balance between stimuly, or you can create learned helplessness), in personality (a balance between happyness and depression makes you happier than the happiest person in the world), neuropsychology... and any other field with the same theory behind. So yeah, having balance between everything in your life is the most important thing you can achieve.
Re:Tmux – The Essentials (2019) on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @03:31AM (#43264242)
This is a good question. Some user made a good list in superuser https://superuser.com/questions/236158/tmux-vs-screen.

For me, it's because it's more common to use tmux and you can find from legacy configs to modern ones. So, for me, that I have not studied IT (and now I work as a programmer) it's essential to find basic configurations all over the place to have an anchor.

But, as always... Use whichever works for you. Don't think in the "best" or the "most efficient" which is just youtube propaganda. Use whichever works for you and makes you feel like home. If that's 98's microsoft word... then embrace it and be proud to have an opinion.

Monke, smash!!
Re:The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity on Monday September 23, 2024 @04:50AM (#41623881)
In my company we decided to go to the office 1 day every week. It´s completely optional and most of the people come. For us, that day is almost 100% lost. You spend the morning in some calls, dailies and things like that, and ofcourse taking some coffees and talking to people that you didnt see in 1 week. I even send myself notes for the next days when i work from home where im more productive.
Re:The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity on Monday September 23, 2024 @04:43AM (#41623838)
Not all, and even that, leasing is a cost in their accounts, which is good. Those companies that have huge ammounts of benefits need huge costs to maintain a propper balance.
Re:The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity on Monday September 23, 2024 @03:24AM (#41623296)
If we oversimplify everything, yes... it's all about prop up real estate prices. But if we want to talk about this, we need to have in mind the capital amortization. The value of every business goes up or down if their fixed capital gets old or unused. For example, if you have 100 computers and every computer costs 1000, your company has that value as capital. But if they lose value in the next years and those same computers have a value of 50 in the market, then your company's value is halved (oversimplifiying it). The same happens with buildings and offices, if they lose values the company loses value too. Forcing workers to move to the office gives value to the area and the building, and the buildings around, and that's one of the main reasons why they are forcing the back to office thing.
Re:Amazon tells employees to return to office five days a week on Tuesday September 17, 2024 @08:19AM (#41566880)
I have a 100% remote job. But my team have decided to go at least every tuesday to the office. We are not obligued, but almost everyone comes to the office once a week just to socialize and talk about our projects and sometimes even to take a beer or two after work.

To me, feels super refreshing to talk to people when Im at the office, and to be fair Im much much less productive in the office. But makes me appreciate when Im at home and when I dont need to be in the car for 1 to arrive my home, take everything and go to the gym.

It feels like, going from time to time to the office when almost everyone is there, gives to the remote working more sense and value. And viceversa.

Graphics are always secondary, no matter what. Graphics are a tool in videogames. You have impressive light management like in DayZ with graphics from 10 years ago, and you have one of the most expected games and one of the best games in the last decade which is elden ring (or zelda for the same purpose) that have normal graphics (or even cartoonish in zelda's case) and does not matter a lot.
The DDR
The DDR.

Those screens are produced by samsung.
You are interpreting that, I never said that they should not enjoy what they earned. I just said that rentist are the only one suffering this "problem" and vulture funds and banks.

Ofcourse someone whos earned a couple of houses has a right to enjoy them and live their lives as they please. But you cannot convince me to empathize with banks, vulture funds or people who has 50 houses (like, for example, well known families in politics).
