Ohh nice. Very LCARS-y!

I also ran into this issue with French specifically, and got frustrated and gave up. Even original language French films/shows seem to have spotty subs (or none at all!) Most of them have English subs, but that's not as helpful for learning. Did you ever find alternatives?

Interesting! I don't immediately perceive anything distinctly American about it, but I'm definitely biased. Could you provide any examples of what you'd consider non-american data design, if only for my personal design curiosity. :)

To add to this, because the list is ordered, a multi-column list would create ambiguity in the order of ingredients.

The change in font to help legibility is the best option in this use case – and I was really surprised to see how effective it was!

Exactly. These are the symptoms of a withdrawal from escapism. You could replace "VR" in the article by many other kinds of absorbing experiences. Not to discredit the author's own personal findings, it's probably a healthy thing to be self-aware of these feelings. And there might be something to VR that makes the contrast of detachment more intense.
This also made me raise an eyebrow. I found a preprint[0] of an article on the subject after some googling. I've only skimmed it so far but it seems promising.

The Sisko is of... IBM?

> This makes no sense. If you're a true music lover, a great song will give you countless hours of enjoyment and appreciation. Do you seriously think $1.50 is too much for that?

Just to add to this: since you've been streaming the song, you already know that you enjoy it! There is no risk to you, as a consumer, of purchasing something you'd dislike. This, to me, is the genius of streaming services. I know that my money, once I spend it, is going to artists I enjoy.

I tried a negative series and a decimal series, just in case the rule was increasing natural numbers. I tried very large numbers to see if there was a limit to the rule, and a series that had large contrast in between each element. For fun I tried to see if the app would recognize "pi", "i", or "e", but, perhaps unsurprisingly, it did not.

Getting some serious M5 vibes right now.
